The On3 Impact 300 countdown continued on Saturday with yet another positional preview – interior offensive line. After Georgia was well represented with the tight ends and offensive tackles, one Bulldog earned a spot on the list of interior offensive linemen. That would be sophomore Amarius Mims.

Amarius Mims

Interestingly, Mims hasn’t played much on the interior. However, he’s listed at No. 4 because of the potential for him to do so this season – currently in competition with the likes of returning starter Warren Ericson, Tate Ratledge who held a starting spot before being injured in the season-opener last year as well as upperclassmen like Xavier Truss and Devin Willock. Truss and Willock seemed to get the most time with the ones during spring practice, but that’s because Ericson suffered an injury late in the set of 15 sessions while Ratledge continued to work his way back from injury. As for Amarius Mims, he entered the transfer portal before G-Day and missed the spring scrimmage as a result. It could have been an opportunity for the former five-star to show what he’s capable of.

Mims entered the transfer portal and visited Florida State in the offseason before deciding to remove his name and stay in Athens after all. The Cochran, Ga. native and Bleckley County product played in eight games last season, all in reserve duty.

Interesting Omission

Interesting missing from the list of the top 10 interior offensive linemen is Georgia center Sedrick Van Pran. Mel Kiper has Van Pran ranked as the No. 3 center in the 2023 NFL Draft class as he returns having started all 15 games in the middle of the Bulldog offensive line. A native of New Orleans, La., Van Pran played 90 percent of snaps in 2021 including all of eight games offensively. That ranks most among any Georgia player. Considering he was the No. 1 interior offensive lineman in the Class of 2020 and has lived up to the hype, his omission certainly is interesting.
