Georgia basketball great Anthony Edwards led his Minnesota Timberwolves to the NBA Playoffs Tuesday night.

For some perspective on how big of a deal that is, consider this:

Before this season, Minnesota only made the playoffs one other time (2018) since Kevin Garnett was on the team.

That was nearly 20 years ago, in 2004.

Anthony Edwards plays with a mindset that makes him a leader

If you watched Anthony Edwards on Tom Crean’s team at Georgia in 2020, you caught a glimpse of the talent that would one day make for a tremendous NBA player.

The number one overall basketball recruit in his class, Edwards obviously had great potential.

But he still had to prove it.

Edwards averaged 19.1 points per game at Georgia during a Covid-19 basketball season.

Then he averaged 19.3 as Minnesota’s overall number-one draft pick in 2021.

This season, he’s up to an average of 21.5.

Edwards dropped 30 in Minnesota’s NBA Play-In win over the Clippers on Tuesday. Afterward, a mic caught him dropping a line that sums up his energy to a T:

Georgia basketball fans went through a lean few years recently, but Anthony Edwards is something to watch this NBA Playoffs

Even with Anthony Edwards on Georgia’s roster, Tom Crean’s Dawgs only went 5-13 in conference play.

Georgia basketball finds itself in a transition period and mass exodus to the transfer portal during a regime change to Mike White.

It’s hard to be a Dawgs basketball fan right now.

But take heart, Georgia fans. While Mike White shapes his staff, and builds something for the future, you can take pride in what former Dawg Anthony Edwards is doing right now.

Regardless of what the Timberwolves do this postseason, the ‘Ant Man’ will be a joy to watch for years to come. So soak it in.

And Mike White – even though you didn’t recruit him or coach him – he’ll still show up on any Georgia basketball recruiting graphic you ever want UGA graphic designers to make.

They should be doing it. Every. Day.

The Timberwolves open their NBA Playoffs in earnest against the Memphis Grizzlies.
