Ask Rusty: Georgia football and recruiting intel to kick off February
The calendar has turned to February the 2025 College Football season is getting closer with each passing second. Georgia hasn’t fully kicked into its offseason training mode but the Bulldogs are still hard at work behind the scenes, getting ready to defend their SEC Crown and get back to the College Football Playoff.
We’re coming off an incredibly busy news week, especially by off-season standards. The week started with the news that Georgia offensive tackle Monroe Freeling would be limited this offseason after shoulder surgery.
Then resolution came in Colbie Young‘s legal situation. He pled no contest to a misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct charge while two others charges were dropped. Seeing as how he has been practicing with the team, is enrolled for spring and summer semester, and has been cleared by the UGA Equal Opportunity Office, it seems likely that he’ll be a part of the team in 2025. That has not been confirmed by Georgia, however.

On the recruiting side, the Bulldogs added their fifth commitment this week in four-star safety Zech Fort. They also had a huge group of visitors on campus this weekend, a list loaded with four-star prospects at positions of need.
DawgsHQ subscribers have questions about all of these things and more and the best way to deliver intel is on demand. This morning I held an Ask Rusty chat and below is a link to the entire thing. We’ve also provided some sample questions.
ASK Rusty: February 2, 2025
Q: Hearing any crazy PRs (personal records) yet from the offseason S&C workouts?
A: I don’t think they have tested yet. They have about another 10 days before all hell breaks loose. I believe the morning deal with coaches there starts on Feb 12th. It will be on then until spring break and then it carries right into spring practice. They are working out hard now, but I mean those team runs before dawn in Sanford etc
Q: Do you think (Elijah) Griffin plays a lot this year if so how much do you anticipate him playing?
