Bloody Tuesday: analyzing Georgia vs South Carolina hot takes
It’s Georgia vs South Carolina week. The Dawgs call their toughest practice ‘Bloody Tuesday.’
So each Tuesday, I will take a tough look at a few internet hot takes about Georgia football. Then, I’ll examine what each take says.
Is it accurate?
Does it hold up under scrutiny?
Is it wildly, embarrassingly off-base?
Bloody Tuesday isn’t just tough for Georgia football players. It’s tough for anyone who thinks a wild take about the Dawgs will go un-checked.
Let’s take a tough look at some hot takes.
How does Kirby Smart like his chicken cooked?
An interesting opinion here, in the graphic from Evil Kirby Smart (parody account).
A trusted source once painted the picture for me about how busy Kirby Smart is on a day-to-day basis:
‘Wes, Kirby is so dang busy, if you asked him to fire up a propane grill and cook some meat, he probably wouldn’t waste much time figuring it out. If it isn’t about making Georgia football better, he doesn’t fool around with it.’
Granted, I’m pretty skeptical about that.
My two-year-old daughter is an expert at reaching for the stove dials and trying to get the fire lit (usually right after we tell her not to), so I’m sure Kirby Smart could figure out his way around a gas Weber.
But as far as Kirby’s chicken preference, I have to disagree here.
Kirby may not know which music he listens to before games, but he’s definitely a Zac Brown Band guy when the occasion calls for it.
King Kirby enjoys his chicken fried.
Stetson Bennett’s acclaim after the Samford win wasn’t deserved
I’ve never hidden my admiration for Arkansas and Sam Pittman.
On Outsider’s Marty Smith Show, I chose Pittman in our preseason ‘All-College-Football-Team’ Draft. Obviously, I graduated from Georgia.
But something about the Hogs and their Woo Pig stuff just makes me smile.
So when I see a fellow Razorback share a hostile take against Stetson Bennett, it catches my eye.

And I have to admit, I understand the sarcasm here. Georgia fans echoed some of the same unimpressed sentiment about The Mailman on Saturday.
His throws were off the mark at times.
He took a bad sack.
But he still accounted for 300 yards passing and two total touchdowns.
Was it a story as touching and as inspiring as the other Arkansas story below? No way.
It still doesn’t take away from the season Stetson Bennett can have this season – as long as the Samford game was somewhat of a fluke.
South Carolina won’t let Georgia run on them Saturday
Well, the Gamecocks may not be planning on it.
And Shutdown Man may be right.
However, he follows me on Twitter. So I do have to question some of his critical thinking skills.
But when I examine all the facts here, I don’t know if Shutdown Man’s point matters much, as it relates to Georgia’s chances for success.
Kirby Smart said on Monday that Georgia looks at all Georgia running back yardage – whether it’s on the ground or in the passing game – as a substitution for traditional rushing yards.
So maybe Georgia doesn’t run a ton against the Gamecocks Saturday.
I’d still be surprised if Kenny McIntosh, Kendall Milton and Daijun Edwards don’t combine for a hot afternoon of their own at Williams-Brice Stadium.

Today’s Bloody Tuesday is FREE, since it’s the debut column. But it will be a premium piece moving forward this season.
Look forward to hearing from y’all on the boards / in my mentions.
