Brad Nessler and the SEC on CBS finally get to see Georgia – it just took until the Florida game to make it happen. Thank a back-loaded Dawgs regular season schedule for that.

But it’s never too late to get excited for the Dawgs, and Ness’s crew is certainly ready to see the number-one-ranked team in the country.

Yes, Georgia opened as a 22-point favorite in the game.

But this game is a cocktail party. Not only that, it’s the World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party.

If you’ve been to a cocktail party before, you know how crazy the night can get.

Nessler’s been to a few of them.

Georgia – Florida games, that is.

And cocktail parties, too, I’m sure – so he seems prepared for anything.

I spoke with him as the week ramps down into another Georgia – Florida weekend to talk all things Dawgs, scotch & cigars, and Vince Dooley.

At long last, Brad Nessler and the CBS crew get to see Georgia – Florida

The last time Brad Nessler’s crew saw Georgia (for TV broadcasting purposes), the Dawgs lost to Alabama in the SEC Championship game.

Nearly a year later, they’re excited to see the defending National Champs again.

“We really are. We’ve had a good taste of Alabama, we’ve had a pretty good taste of Tennessee so far. And you know we’ve been waiting on the number-one team in the country,” Nessler said.

“Obviously, I’m always kind of hoping for a home game here and there (Nessler resides in Duluth, Ga.), and I get one next week against Tennessee. But Georgia – Florida’s always special, and I finally get to see the Dawgs play. I think Gary (Danielson) and I and Jenny (Dell) have all been looking forward to it.”

This Cocktail Party serves as a cork-tapper of sorts.

Now that Georgia’s schedule ramps up in difficulty, the likelihood of primetime SEC on CBS matchups does, too.

“It’s the way the schedule fell into place. Georgia’s schedule wasn’t that great and now we’ll see them a bunch. We’ll see them next week against Tennessee, probably the Kentucky game, and we’ll see what else goes on from there. Maybe the SEC Championship. That’s what all the Georgia fans are hoping for.”

Regardless of how many times Georgia shows up on CBS, this week’s game features a classic matchup that Nessler always enjoys

If you’ve ever been to one of these games, you know that it’s just a different setup.

There isn’t anything like it in college football. Mostly because of the neutral location, and partially because of all the libations.

“I love sitting out in our bus and just watching the people before the game. I try not to go up to the booth too early,” Nessler said.

“Last year for instance, I saw these two guys and they both had leather recliners with motors on them. They had a beer in each cupholder and they were still pulling a cooler behind it. And I thought, ‘Maybe that happens on college campuses, it happens in Jacksonville, I know that.'”

Ness reveals his favorite scotch and cigar pairing, if you’re into that.

He also shares why he believes Georgia tight end Brock Bowers is due for a massive game, what he’s seen from Florida quarterback Anthony Richardson thus far, and a sneak peek of what Hendon Hooker and Tennessee will bring to Athens.

Nessler also shares a tremendous Vince Dooley impression.

We’ll have more on this game on The Georgia Show, which airs each Wednesday night at 8:30PM ET on our YouTube channel. Go ahead and hit subscribe so you don’t miss that.

If the convo with Nessler doesn’t do it for you, our breakdown with DawgsHQ insiders Jake Rowe and Palmer Thombs ought to whet your whistle as we near kickoff in Jacksonville.

And if you know who the fans are with the motorized recliners and beer cooler, please let me know.

I would like to conduct some additional research and reporting on the matter.
