Georgia RB Branson Robinson is 'crazy impressive' on and off field
Whether you’re a recruiting junkie who has known about him for years or a fan that really doesn’t lock in on Georgia football until Saturday, you are now well aware of freshman running back Branson Robinson. He made quite the impression in the Bulldogs’ 42-10 whipping of Auburn on Saturday, but teammates didn’t have to see him on the football field to be blown away by his work ethic, personality, and tremendous power in the weight room.
“It was actually crazy impressive,” Xavier Truss, UGA’s starting left guard, said on Wednesday. “Having to squat next to him and just work out next to him, and everything. Because you hear all these things before you meet the incoming guys and it was really impressive to see just how much he can do. Just the type of person I think he is impressed me more, just how personable he is, the great character that he has, I think was more impressive for me than anything he does on the field or in the weight room. Overall, yeah, he’s just a great guy.”
Branson Robinson both earned and made the most of an opportunity against Auburn. He carried the ball in the first quarter for the first time this season. He had two carries for 32 yards at halftime against the Tigers. He had 10 more carries for 66 more yards and his first career touchdown in the second half.
After that performance, the Bulldog faithful are going to be asking, “where is Branson Robinson?” when he doesn’t run the ball for a series or two. As can often happen with a productive tailback at Georgia, Branson Robinson is quickly gaining popularity.
Now some of that can be attributed to a productive day against UGA’s oldest rivalry. But worth mentioning is the similarities between Branson Robinson and Bulldog legend Nick Chubb.

Being mentioned in the same breath as Chubb can create some unrealistic expectations, but it doesn’t take a reach to see some traits the two ball carriers share. They’re similar in size and they both lean on a powerful, bruising rushing style.
Branson Robinson and Nick Chubb are also both known as tireless workers. They love spending time in the weight room with both being featured in viral videos because of how much weight they can move around.
No one should expect Branson Robinson to reach the same bar that Chubb reached during his time in Athens. The comparisons aren’t necessarily there for projection. They have more to do with just how impressive the freshman running back has been in a short amount of time.
“The first time I saw him he was in the locker room and he had his shirt off and I’m like,’ who is this?” redshirt sophomore left tackle Broderick Jones said. “Like he makes me look little. I was like, you’ve got to put a shirt on around here. You too big.”
