Las Vegas tight end Brock Bowers‘ record-setting rookie season wasn’t enough to earn him the AP NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year. That award went to Washington quarterback Jaden Daniels, who led the Commanders to the NFC Championship game in year one.

Daniels won in a landslide, grabbing 49 of 50 first-place votes. He piled up a commanding 495 points while Bowers finished second at 214 points. Denver quarterback Bo Nix, who led the Broncos to the playoffs, was third with 153 points. Wide receivers Brian Thomas (Jacksonville) and Malik Nabers (New York) finished fourth and fifth, respectively.

The 2024 season saw Bowers set the single-season rookie mark for most reception in a season with 112. He piled up 1,192 receiving yards and reached the end zone five times. He had four games with 10 or more receptions during his rookie season and he had 11 games where he caught at least five passes. Bowers also posted a pair of 100-yard games and six games of 90 yards or more.

The Raiders selected Bowers with the No. 13 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. He had just spent three seasons at Georgia, leading the Bulldogs in receiving in all three seasons. Bowers was the Bulldogs go-to offensive weapon for National Championships in 2021 and 2022. He also won the Mackey Award as the nation’s top tight end in 2022 and 2023.

As a freshman, he caught 56 passes for 882 yards and 13 touchdowns while adding another score on the ground. Bowers improved upon those numbers in 2022, catching 63 passes for 942 yards and seven scores while carrying the ball nine times for 109 yards and three scores.

A high-ankle sprain at midpoint of the 2023 regular season kept Bowers from making a run at 1,000 yards in his final season at Georgia. Bowers sustained the injury at Vanderbilt in October and missed the next two games as Georgia took down Florida and Missouri.

The California native returned for Georgia’s beatdown of Ole Miss and helped the Bulldogs win at Tennessee, but he re-inured himself in Knoxville. Bowers missed the Georgia Tech game and was well shy of 100 percent as the Bulldogs saw their 29-game win streak snapped in the SEC Championship game with a loss to Alabama.
