Awards season continues on in a strong way for the Georgia Bulldogs on Thursday with the announcement that Brock Bowers and Jalen Carter were named as two of the four finalists for the Rotary Lombardi Award. Others finalists are Alabama linebacker Will Anderson and USC defensive lineman Tuli Tuipulotu.

Bowers is Georgia’s leading receiver for the second straight season. He has amassed over 700 total yards and seven touchdowns in 2022 with most of that coming in the passing game. Bowers has hauled in 39 passes for 615 yards and four scores. He also has four rushing attempts for 89 yards and three scores. Bowers has been responsible for three plays of 70-plus yards this season. In addition to the Walter Camp honor, the Napa, Calif. native is a semifinalist for the Mackey Award (top tight end), the Maxwell Award and the Walter Camp Player of the Year. Bowers has twice been named SEC Offensive Player of the Week this season for his big performances against SEC East opponents South Carolina and Florida.

Carter, who was also announced as one of seven semifinalists for the Outland Trophy Wednesday afternoon, has only played in eight games for Georgia this season, starting four of those. He dealt with an ankle injury early in the season before an MCL sprain sidelined him in the month of October. However, when he’s been on the field, he’s certainly lived up to the ideals of an impact player. Carter has 17 total tackles as well as 17 quarterback hurries. He was named SEC Defensive Lineman of the Week, as well as the Bednarik Award Player of the Week, for his performance against Tennessee when he had four tackles including a quarterback sack, another tackle for loss and two forced fumble in the win over the top-ranked team. He followed that up with a career-high seven tackles in Georgia’s win on the road at Mississippi State.

Voting for the four finalists begins tomorrow (Friday, November 18th) with the winner being announced at a live event in Houston, Texas on December 7th.
