Brock Vandagriff, Murray & Raiola: The Georgia Show talks QBs
Brock Vandagriff wants to be a Dawg. DawgsHQ Senior Editor Jake Rowe wrote about it right before we went live on Wednesday night’s live edition of The Georgia Show.
Thankfully, we had some real news to talk about.
And thankfully for Georgia fans, the Dawgs’ QB room will officially be one of the deeper groups in the country in 2023.
Just like in the NFL, there seems to be a massive dropoff from starting quarterback to backup at many college programs.
You can thank the transfer portal for that.
With Brock Vandagriff in the fold again as Georgia stalks a three-peat, however, the Dawgs don’t have that problem.
And before we put this cart entirely before the race horse, I will continue to say it.
Just because Carson Beck appears to have the lead in Georgia’s quarterback race right now in April doesn’t guarantee a thing about this fall.
We’ve seen quarterbacks excel in Georgia spring games in years past and get passed by on the depth chart.
And if that isn’t the case for Beck and Vandagriff, then guess what? Carson Beck still has to feel the fire of Brock Vandagriff singeing his neck hairs.
Win-win-win for the Dawgs. That’s what they’re trying to do, ain’t it?

Brock Vandagriff wasn’t the only Georgia quarterback of note in our conversation
Aaron Murray stopped by The Hard Count with On3’s JD Pickell to talk about the Dawgs’ offseason. I highly recommend you check out that interview to pick up Murray’s perspective on Georgia.
As most people are, Murray is bullish on the Dawgs.
But there has to be a challenger on the schedule somewhere right?
There must be a team with the best shot to knock Georgia off, spoil its perfect season, and derail its chances of a three-peat.
When asked about that angle, Murray had his eyes on Rocky Top, as most people do right now.
And I don’t blame Murray for thinking that.
I still think Georgia will have to beat itself to lose at Tennessee, just like Alabama did with 17 penalties in Knoxville last season.

I also want to wait and see more from Joe Milton before anointing him as the nation’s most talented quarterback, like Murray did.
Maybe he’s the most talented. But can he be a winner?
Dylan Raiola decision looming large for the Dawgs, but don’t count out Ryan Puglisi
There’s a buzz around the Bulldogs’ quarterback recruiting right now that’s difficult to top.
Dylan Raiola seems to have Georgia on the brain, and may just become a Dawg before it’s all said and done.
But Georgia already has a quarterback commit in the 2024 class named Ryan Puglisi. And he isn’t backing down.
Just like the situation with Beck and Vandagriff, you have to love a healthy competition at this position for Georgia.
If Raiola and Puglisi do end up in the same Georgia class, you know that Dawgs fans will hone in on the On3 5-star-plus quarterback instead of Puglisi.
It doesn’t seem like he needs a chip on his shoulder. But it’ll just get bigger – and make that competition hotter – if things work out that way.
Georgia would have to turn away even more talented prospects in the 2024 class in this scenario, as Jake Reuse points out on the show.
Win-win-win.
