Georgia OL Broderick Jones to enter 2023 NFL Draft
When Georgia takes the field to defend its 2022 National Championship, it’ll have to start its third left tackle in as many seasons. Redshirt sophomore left tackle Broderick Jones made it known Friday that he will be entering the 2023 NFL Draft. He made his decision known via instagram.
“First, I want to thank God because without him, I wouldn’t be who I am today,” Jones said.
“These 3 years in Athens have been filled with so many great experiences that I will cherish forever. I wanted to thank my family for their love and support no matter the circumstance. It is because of their unwavering support I am able to put so much work into my craft and play the game that I love.
“I want to thank coach Jelks and coach Ham who have been there for me from the start and made me fall in love with the game of football. To Ian Horvat, thank you for everything you’ve done to ensure I’m performing off the field and in the classroom.. And lastly, I want to thank coach Smart and the entire Georgia coaching staff for the opportunity to play at the University of Georgia. I can’t thank all of you enough for not just helping me become a better player but a better man as well.
“To my brothers, thank you for all the memories we made and the relationships that will truly last a lifetime. Two national Championships never felt so good.
“With that being said, I have decided to declare for the 2023 NFL Draft and begin this next chapter of my career. I am excited to see what God has in store for me.”
The former five-star prospect is considered a first-round talent by a number of analysts. Those who have him outside of the first round have placed him inside the draft’s top 60 prospects.
Jones is coming off his first full season as a stater. He manned the left tackle in all 15 games. The Lithonia native got his feet wet a year ago, starting four games in place of an injured Jamaree Salyer last season.

When the Bulldogs needed him to step up in the 2021 National Championship game, Jones was ready. Georgia moved Salyer to right guard and Jones to left tackle. It seemed to help spark the Bulldogs offensively and they posted 27 points in the second half to earn the program its first National Championship in 41 years.
His third season saw him anchor the left side of one of the nation’s top offensive lines. The Bulldogs were the runner-up for The Joe Moore Award. They surrendered just nine sacks in 15 games, becoming the first program in the playoff era to appear in that many games with single-digit sacks allowed. Georgia also finished No. 2 nationally in tackles for loss allowed per game.
