There was a time that Broderick Jones, during his three years at Georgia, was asked to host recruits and help the Bulldogs land top prospects. He’s now with the Pittsburgh Steelers but he’s still doing his part to help Kirby Smart and company to recruit.

In a recent interview posted on TikTok by The GOAT FARM, Jones raved about the coaching he received at Georgia and the way he was challenged. He claims that no other team in the country stacks up.

“Ain’t nothing (sic) like Georgia. Ain’t no college doing it like Georgia,” Jones said. “If you want to go to the league, if you want to be prepared, that’s the best way to go. Because they’re going to get you prepared for the next level. They’re going to stay on you about everything, like the smallest details, they on you about it. The ringer, it’s different because they prepare you like no other school. I can say that because I’ve got friends that go to different schools and they tell me. They talked to me about their schedules and I know my schedule and it’s totally different. It’s a big difference, you can tell.”

If you look at Jones’ path to the NFL, his statement makes some sense. While a lot of first-round offensive tackles start 30 or 40 games, Jones was taken in the first half of the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft after just 19 starts.

He started four games last season and 15 more in 2022, helping the Bulldogs win a second National Championship in as many seasons. He also entered the 2021 National Championship game, allowing Jamaree Salyer to slide over and play right guard. The offense found some success once that move was made.

But Jones isn’t the only Bulldog lineman who has discussed how challenging and rewarding it is to play at UGA. The guy set to take over full time at right tackle in 2023, Amarius Mims, told reporters this spring that being a Georgia Bulldog isn’t for the faint of heart.

“My why is the people back home, my family. I promised my mom when I was seven years old that I was going to get her a house. That’s why I wake up every morning,” Mims said this spring. “That’s why I do what I do. Any normal person, if you don’t have a why, you can not play at the University of Georgia. I’m just being honest with you. You’d been done quit (sic). This is a hard university to play at. Coach Smart holds us to a high standard so I feel like if you don’t have a why, you’ll break very easily.”
