Broderick Jones and the Pittsburgh Steelers could be a perfect fit
Broderick Jones and the Pittsburgh Steelers could be a perfect fit, according to sources. At least one of those sources is Broderick Jones himself.
It’s no secret that the Steelers organization loves them some Georgia Bulldogs, historically and recently.
Hines Ward is an obvious all-timer. Pittsburgh drafted Jarvis Jones 17th overall in the 2013 NFL Draft.
Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin worked George Pickens out hard during Georgia’s Pro Day in 2022 before Pickens became an internet Draft Day meme/sensation.
Well, once again, the Stillers seem to have a Dawg in their sights.
And projected first-rounder Broderick Jones may be just the franchise cornerstone they need at tackle.
“I’d really say with the Steelers coach, just their whole staff is just like amazing,” Jones said at Georgia’s 2023 Pro Day, when asked if there are any franchises in particular that make him feel loved.
“All the coaches I met with are amazing, but they just stood out a lot. It felt like they were more interested in things that were really like, dealing with me instead of more football… like my outside life and things like that. I just feel like I made a connection with them a lot.”
Broderick Jones isn’t the only one connecting dots between himself and the Steelers
NFL Draft expert and NFL Network analyst Daniel Jeremiah recently projected that Pittsburgh would make Broderick Jones a part of the Steelers’ organization.

Just like the year Pittsburgh drafted Jarvis Jones, the Steelers once again pick in the first round, right at the #17 spot.
Could they use the pick on another Jones out of Georgia?
“This would be a dream scenario for the Steelers as they continue to overhaul their offensive line this offseason,” Jeremiah said in his most recent NFL Mock Draft.
Another NFL expert compares Broderick Jones to a fellow Dawg
NFL analyst Lance Zierlein lists Jones’s player comp to New York Giants first-round draft pick Andrew Thomas in his NFL Draft profile.
“Ultra-athletic tackle prospect with the size, length and potential to develop into a plus starter on the left side… Jones is very talented at working into space and landing a block to help spring the running game. He has the nimble feet to mirror or recover against the rush,” Zierlein mentions as positives for Jones’s game.
Of course, there is always room to grow.
NFL Draft analyses tend to make that the emphasis, no matter how talented the player of interest happens to be.
“Jones’ frame and technique both are in the developmental phase,” Zierlein observes.
“His entry into block fits can be a little disjointed. He needs to improve his punch accuracy and timing to make the most of his length in pass protection… Jones isn’t a finished product, but the physical and athletic gifts allow for a projection as a good, long-time starter.”
Will that be the case in Pittsburgh?
Franchise quarterback Kenny Pickett could play behind much worse.
