Bulldogs RB James Cook drafted by Buffalo Bills in the 2022 NFL Draft
James Cook will now represent ‘RBU’ at the next level, as the former Georgia running back has been chosen by the Buffalo Bills with the No. 63rd pick in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft.
A product of Miami, Florida’s Miami Central High School, Cook arrived in Athens as part of the Class of 2018 and was a Consensus four-star prospect. He ranked at the No. 38 overall prospect in the cycle, in addition to being the No. 5 running back and No. 9 player in the Sunshine State.
The younger brother of former Vikings second round pick Dalvin Cook, James appeared in 50 games over his four year career in Athens, rushing the ball 230 times over that span for 1503 yards, 14 touchdowns, and a 6.5 yard per attempt average.
Cook was also highly effective in the Georgia receiving game, with 67 career reception for 730 yards, 6 receiving touchdown, and a 10.9 yard per catch average.

He split time throughout his career with fellow 2018 running back signee Zamir White, and Kirby Smart has been highly complimentary of both:
“I think you’re getting two work horses. You’re getting two guys that have played in free release protection offense. They’ve done every protection known to man,” Smart said of the two former Georgia backs prior to the draft. “They can hit people up. They blocked three of the best linebackers in this college football draft for the last three to four years. So they can protect your quarterback. They can free release out of the backfield and catch it. Really good special teams players which is a huge value in your rookie season. Really they’re just tough. They were two of our best leaders, so James and Zamir are both sub-4.5 guys that can catch the ball out of the backfield which is so important in NFL offenses today.”
