NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Consider Carson Beck and Kirby Smart anxious to watch the film. While Georgia won by three scores over Vanderbilt on Saturday, 37-20, the Bulldogs felt that there was more that they could have done. Inconsistency seemed to be a theme, especially on offense, and it’s something that all involved parties are wanting to get cleaned up as soon as possible.

“Obviously it wasn’t the best,” Beck said. “Had the fumble and the pick. It happens. Turnovers are a part of the game, and obviously we try to eliminate that as much as possible. We’ll have to look at it on film and see how we can get better.”

Beck finished the game with a 74.4% completion percentage. Not bad considering he came into today at 73.5% on the season. He threw for 261 yards and a touchdown, however it’s the two turnovers – and another near one – that stand out most from his performance.

“I want to reserve judgement until I watch it. I was frustrated by some decisions, taking a sack that almost knocked us out of field goal (range). Peyton went out and knocked it, but that was just not smart,” Smart said. “If it’s not there, throw it away, let’s get the three points and let’s go. I think everything for him has to be, ‘I want to get a completion. I’m going to run for it.’ It’s okay. We’ve got a good defense, we don’t have to score every possession. Be smart with the ball, don’t give it back to them.”

“I want to watch it and see how he played,” he continued. “Thought he made a couple of throws there, and he made a couple of nice throws that we didn’t catch, but there were a couple of shots – the Marcus Rosemy one down the middle, Rara’s down in the end zone that was near the ground, there were a couple that I thought he could have back. I’ll watch it and see how he did, but I’m certainly proud of his composure. He doesn’t lose his composure much.”

Smart, Beck and the Bulldogs will have plenty of time to watch the film. Georgia goes into a bye week – a much needed one from an injury perspective – with an opportunity to improve. They showed the potential last week to perform, putting up 51 points and doing so efficiently, scoring touchdowns on four of their first five drives. They’ve also shown the capability to start slowly. What they’re looking for is a bit more consistency.

“I feel great about the bye week. I’m glad it’s here. We’ll try to get better,” Smart said. “People don’t understand what a bye week really is. I mean, it’s an opportunity-for-growth week for me. It’s not a bye week. I don’t look at it as time off.”

“Obviously not every day can be perfect. We’ll go back and watch the film and see where we can improve,” Beck added. “We turned the ball over twice. Obviously I take credit for that, it’s my fault and we’ll try to eliminate turnovers. When you turn the ball over you give them opportunities to score, especially when its on the minus side of the field. We’ll go back and watch the film and see where we can improve on that … I don’t know. We’re going to have to watch the film. We’re obviously fresh off the game. I know what happened in terms of stats go and that stuff but watching it is a totally different thing. We’ll try to articulate that and improve.”
