Carson Beck's five touchdowns help Georgia douse Tennessee Tech 48-3
ATHENS, Ga. — Georgia made it look easy in its home opener as it defeated Tennessee Tech 48-3. The Bulldogs jumped out to a quick lead and never looked back as Carson Beck tied a score record with five touchdown scores.
He connected on 18 of 25 passes for 242 yards. Each of his touchdowns went to different receivers. Trevor Etienne, in his Georgia debut had five carries for 78 yards and two catches for 14 yards in the win.
Tennessee Tech got the ball first but Georgia made the initial dent in the scoreboard and it wasted little time. After an 46-yard punt return from Anthony Evans set the Bulldogs up at the Golden Eagle 22-yard line, Beck found Dillon Bell for a touchdown on the first play. Peyton Woodring hit the PAT to put the Bulldogs up 7-0.

Tennessee Tech moved the chains on its next possession but that was about it. Georgia got it back and put together another march but it didn’t find this one off. It stalled at the Golden Eagle three-yard line and after Kirby Smart took a delay-of-game penalty in trying to draw Tennessee Tech offsides, Woodring nailed a 27-yard field goal to make the score 17-0.
Over seven minutes of game clock ticked off before Georgia got the ball back again. Tennessee Tech used 11 plays to drive 34 yards but still ended up punting. The Bulldogs got the ball back and took it straight to the end zone with Beck finding Dominick Lovett from 10 yards out on 3rd and 8. It’s Lovett’s first score of the season and Woodrings PAT put the Bulldogs up 24-0.
Smart used his timeouts and got the ball back to Beck and company with 45 seconds left in the half but Georgia couldn’t make anything of it. Beck heaved one to Young to end the half but it fell incomplete.
