The Southeastern Conference took notice of a big performance by a Bulldog on Saturday, honoring Georgia quarterback Carson Beck as the co-offensive player of the week on Monday. Beck shared the honor with LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels.

It was no surprise to see Beck being honored for his role in Georgia’s convincing win over the Kentucky Wildcats, as the junior signal caller played what many felt was his best game of the season to this point.

Beck was 28-of-35 on the evening and accounted for four touchdowns against one interception through the air in the 51 to 13 victory. He also chipped in 389 yards through the air and 7 yards rushing to go along with his eighty-percent completion percentage. He also set career personal bests in completions, attempts, touchdowns, and yardage in the effort.

The Jacksonville, Florida native was quick to point to a feeling of confidence following the contest.

“I think the biggest thing for us each week is obviously to go out there and execute at the highest level, and obviously come out with a win no matter the score. But tonight, it really felt like we couldn’t go wrong with any play that was called in. We did what we did,” Beck said on Saturday evening following the win. “We were able to execute at a high level, and then once we get the ball in the guy’s hands, then they’re making plays after the catch which moves the ball faster and you get down the field faster. It just ends up turning into touchdowns.”

It is Beck’s first time winning the award, and it may not be his last if trends continue. Currently, he’s passed for 1886 yards on a 73-percent completion percentage and is averaging north of 314 yards per game on the season for the Bulldogs.

Carson Beck wasn’t alone in recognition, however, with the conference also naming kicker Peyton Woodring co-freshman of the week. Woodring shared the honor with Florida tight end Arlis Boardingham.

Woodring, who received the same honor last week following Georgia’s win over Auburn, was perfect on the evening successfully converting all three field goals he attempted. It was a career-high in makes for Woodring, and a second-quarter kick established a new career best of 42 yards. He also contributed six successful PATs to the win.

Georgia linebacker Smael Mondon and center Sedrick Van Pran have also received conference honors previously in the 2023 season.
