Cedartown to Athens: 2025 4-star commit Tae Harris up next

Cedartown (Ga.) 2025 four-star cornerback Tae Harris sat in the stands as a 2-year-old watching Nick Chubb score touchdowns at Cedartown High School.
Now, Harris wears the number 27 that Chubb and later CJ Washington made famous at Cedartown.
Those days watching Chubb in high school and then in college also introduced Harris, the No. 266 overall prospect in the 2025 On3 Industry Rankings, to Georgia.
Chubb went to Athens and became a star, rushing for 4,769 yards and 44 touchdowns. Harris is now following in the direct path laid by Chubb and Washington who also signed with Georgia before an injury ended his football career. Harris committed to the defending national champions on June 18.
“Of course, there’s a connection, you have the Cedartown to Athens and the number 27 connection,” Harris said.
Harris doesn’t take the privilege of carrying the number 27 at Cedartown lightly. He wears the number with pride. Harris also feels the responsibility of upholding the tradition and set of values that are identified by the number.
“It means a lot to me,” Harris said. “They’re telling me, I can’t let them down. I have a big target on my back…You can’t go out acting any kind of way. You have that target on your back.”
Harris is much younger than Chubb, though Chubb stops by and works out with the team during the offseason. His’ family is also close with Chubb’s though they are not related.

Harris grew up on the same street as Washington. He has been on visits to Georgia with Washington when he was being recruited by the Bulldogs.
“We took a couple of visits to Georgia ourselves, I’ve known CJ since I was little, we grew up on the same street,” Harris said. “I actually talked to Nick and CJ before I committed to Georgia, so that was cool.”
Who is Tae Harris?
Harris has a few expectations of himself and what people can expect from him as a person.
“You can expect a good human being,” Harris said. “I always want to do things the right way. I have the competitive spirit and a competitive edge. I’m just a straight dog, so I’m trying to along with the dogs.”
Harris feels as a player, his physicality and competitiveness are his most dominant traits on the field. He also possesses a 4.3 40-yard dash and a 400-plus pound squat.
“I like to hit people,” Harris said with a grin. “I like to show people that all DBs aren’t soft. Of course, I have speed but my physicality outweighs a lot of things that other guys have.”
