Christen Miller looking for 'consistency' in 2023 version of himself
Georgia defensive lineman Christen Miller has an established presence in the locker room. Known for his big personality off the field, ‘Percy,’ as he’s often called by his teammates, could have that same kind of presence on the field before too long.
Miller signed with Georgia just over a year ago in February 2022, choosing the Bulldogs over Ohio State as the primary competition. That decision date meant that he wasn’t on campus until the summer and wasn’t with the team last spring for practice and workouts, putting him behind the eight-ball a little bit in year one.
“It’s been amazing just to be in the room with a great group of guys just to learn from them. I knew what this year was going to be, a learning year for me and I have learned a lot,” Miller told DawgsHQ in Los Angeles ahead of Georgia’s appearance in the National Championship Game. “I’m just happy to be in the room … Coming out of high school I was just trained to go. I was training to go play, but now that I’m here I’m learning football. Coach Scott has taught me football. Develop my mind and callus my mind, callus who I am as a person to get better from there.”
A four-star recruit ranked No. 122 overall according to the On3 Consensus and No. 16 among players at his position, Miller appeared in four contests during the 2022 season – thus preserving a redshirt. The only stat he recorded on the year was a quarterback hurry in Georgia’s game against FCS opponent Samford. However, if the offseason goes according to plan, he’ll be on the field and a part of the action much more in 2023.

“There’s a certain consistency, not only as a football player but as a person, in the classroom, as a son, as a brother, as a leader. I’m just trying to be consistent in everything,” Miller said. “Explosive, being consistent starting from spring all the way into next season. Just showing what I can do and being consistent, that’s all I’m focused on: consistency.”
“Tyrion Ingram-Dawkins. I was definitely close with Mykel coming in here, and Mykel has taken me under his wing too, but Tyrion, just getting to know him, him teaching me stuff, telling me stuff, giving me advice, just being a big brother to me,” he continued when asked who was taking him under their wing the most and holding him accountable during his development this past season. “Really all these guys have taken me under their wing. I’m the youngest in the d-line room, so they’ve all taken me under their wings, treated me like a brother, treated me with so much love. I love this group.”
Georgia begins spring drills on Tuesday, March 14 with 15 practice days scheduled including three scrimmages, the final of which will take place in front of a public crowd on G-Day (April 15). Miller returns to a defensive line room that loses Jalen Carter to the NFL and Bill Norton to the transfer portal but brings back the likes of Zion Logue, Nazir Stackhouse and Mykel Williams among others while adding five-star Jordan Hall, the nation’s No. 2 defensive lineman according to On3, and On3 Consensus top-200 four-star Jamaal Jarrett in the Class of 2023.
