College GameDay is coming to Athens. With Georgia set to take square off on Saturday against Arkansas, who moved up to No. 11 in the Coaches Poll this week, ESPN’s flagship pregame show will broadcast live from the Classic City.

This is the second time this season that Kirby Smart’s team has been on College GameDay with the first coming just a matter of weeks ago for the season-opener against Clemson. That was in Charlotte. Meanwhile, GameDay has come to Athens each of the last two seasons for marquee matchups. Georgia-Notre Dame was featured on the show in 2019 before Georgia-Auburn in 2020. The Bulldogs won both of those games.

Smart’s Charge for GameDay Atmosphere

Georgia head coach Kirby Smart knows the significance of Saturday’s matchup. Former UGA assistant Sam Pittman brings his hot Razorback team into town coming off of a top-10 victory over Texas A&M. Arkansas also defeated Texas in the primetime slot during Week 2. Therefore, the big stage is nothing new to the Hogs. With kickoff for this weekend is at 12:00 p.m. ET, Smart gave a charge to Georgia fans after Saturday’s win over Vanderbilt.

“Since none of you guys gave a question to give me an opportunity to say this, I want to thank our fans for packing out the stadium,” Smart said in Nashville. “But I want to issue a challenge and I want it to be heard right now. We’ve got a huge game next week, at 12 o’clock, in Athens, Georgia. Everybody wants our team to be elite and I want our team to be elite and we’ve thrown that word around. So when we talk about our fan base, talk about our fan base being elite, we want to be there early and show up better than we ever have. We want to be loud, louder than we ever have. We want to be super intense, because the players are going to be intense. We need the fans to be intense. The toughness we’re going to show, we need our fans to show and the last thing is to be elite. So if our fans will be elite, we’ll have an opportunity to put on a heck of a show at 12 o’clock in Sanford Stadium next week. Thanks and Go Dawgs.”
