What has he said about Georgia?

Georgia has been a major player in Gilbert’s recruitment over the last few months. He’s spoken highly of the Bulldogs’ culture and ability to develop defensive backs.

“You compete at a high level,” told DawgsHQ earlier this week. “You’re going to win games at Georgia. Coach Donte (Williams) and T-Rob (Travaris Robinson) are good guys. They’re probably the best duo of defensive back coaches in the United States of America.”

Georgia offered Gilbert after his sophomore year. That offer was huge for Gilbert. He has a family full of Georgia lovers.

“That’s the hometown,” Gilbert said back on Oct. 5 2022. “I grew up watching them with my family. Everybody in the household is a Georgia fan.”

The big picture for Georgia

Georgia have four defensive backs committed in the class of 2025 at the moment. Only four-star Shamari Earls is considered a cornerback at the moment.

Georgia landed two five-star cornerbacks in the class of 2024 in Ellis Robinson IV and Demello Jones as well as four-star Ondre Evans. The Bulldogs still have incumbent contributors Daylen Everette and Julian Humphrey to pair with rising contributor Daniel Harris.

There is a lot of talented players in Georgia’s room if the season started today. The world of college football dictates that could quickly look different if those players play well. The NFL will come calling.

Landing Gilbert would give Georgia another talented piece to add to the group trying to regroup after the departures that eventually will come.

Gilbert’s length and speed make a cornerback contributor but he also has experience as a safety.
