Commitment Day Primer: 4-star LB Kris Jones set for decision
Fairfax (Va.) four-star linebacker Kris Jones has the table set for his commitment The No. 128 overall prospect in On3 Industry Rankings for the class of 2024 will announce his commitment today.
Georgia will be alongside Florida and Michigan State on the table for the four-star linebacker. Jones took official visits to all three schools in the month of June.
On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine heavily favors Georgia going into Jones’ decision this evening. The Bulldogs have an 89.1 percent chance of landing the four-star linebacker according to RPM.
Georgia has been active in the linebacker market as of late. The Bulldogs landed five-star linebacker Justin Williams on Monday. Another five-star linebacker, Demarcus Riddick flipped from Georgia to Auburn mid-week.
Jones is the next Georgia target to come off the board.

What did he say about Georgia?
Jones has spoken highly of the Bulldogs. He took his official visit back on June 16. The Georgia coaching staff’s treatment of him and his family stood out to Jones throughout the process.
Jones dove in on that factor earlier this month.
“Georgia has been pretty good to me and my family each and every time that I have been down there,” Jones said back on July 17. “They treat me and my family like they’re family. It was really good going down to Georgia. Me talking to coach (Glenn) Schumann was great. We’ve built a great relationship over these past couple of months.”
Schumann has also had a lasting impact on Jones as a coach.
“He’s just a great guy, a great family guy and he likes to connect with his players,” Jones said. “That’s how you get the best performance out of your players; you have to really connect with them. Being coached by the best linebacker back in the nation isn’t bad either.”

Development is a key for Jones as well. The culture at Georgia also caught Jones’ attention. Jones is also big on academics.
“They’re going to develop you as a player at Georgia,” Jones said. “The team feels like family. There’s a connection with the teammates you’ll have. They also did a great job with the stuff for my major. I want to major in Kinesiology. They had me sit down with some of the academic advisors as well.”
The big picture for Georgia
Georgia has one five-star linebacker on board already. A pledge from Jones could strengthen a position of power for Georgia.
The Bulldogs landed three signees in the class of 2023. Jones is a different type of player than Williams. Jones could add some pass rush should he choose Georgia.
The four-star plays on the edge as a pass rusher a lot in high school. The Bulldogs have 25 commits already. Georgia is also already sitting as the top-ranked team in the 2024 Industry Football Team Recruiting Rankings.
