Commitment Day Primer: 5-star DL Aydin Breland set to commit
One of the big dominoes left in the class of 2024, five-star defensive lineman Aydin Breland, is set to come off the board today.
Breland, the No. 38 overall prospect in the On3 Industry Rankings will announce his college decision between Georgia, Oregon and Miami today. The Bulldogs got Breland on campus for an official visit in the summer. He returned for a visit as the Bulldogs faced South Carolina last month.
On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine has shifted in recent days. Georgia had grabbed a lead for Breland. As it stands now, Oregon is the trending team.
Former Georgia defensive coordinator Dan Lanning and the Ducks have a 73.9 percent chance of landing the five-star defensive lineman.
When and where for Aydin Breland’s announcement?
Finalists: Georgia, Miami and Oregon
What did he say about Georgia?
If Breland were to choose Georgia he’d be in for a cross-country move. The Bulldogs’ check a lot of boxes in the development department for Breland.
He paid close attention to Georgia’s ability to send defensive linemen to the NFL in recent years.
“It’s based on the reputation of development, they’re the number one team in the nation,” Breland said. “I come from the number one team in the nation, so being in a big program makes you want to go to a big program. You don’t necessarily want to be taking a chance on a school up-and-coming right now. There are a lot of schools like that right now. You have to see who is doing it and not doing it. Georgia already has a system solidified. You don’t necessarily have to be the star of the team. Everyone else is a star around me.”
Georgia defensive line coach Tray Scott is a coach who connects well with Breland.
“I feel like once you get to know a lot about a coach and spend some time with them, I feel like you can kind of see the way that they coach,” Breland said. “I’m able to read people really well and I already know that he’s someone that is going to push me and the best out of me…Talking to him about ball and about the game, I can tell that he knows what he is talking about and he knows how to talk to me as a person. I feel like if you can’t reach the person in a regular conversation just about life or anything else, I just feel like it would be hard to learn from them as a coach. I like the way that he coaches, and I appreciate that. He’s reached me and I feel like he could develop me over there.”
Familiar face
Breland’s five-star teammate at Mater Dei, running back Nathaniel Frazier, committed to Georgia in the summer. Breland and Frazier are close.

That has been on the five-star’s mind as well. He joined Frazier in Athens when Frazier took his official visit during the South Carolina game.
“Me and Nate are very close,” Breland said. “The fact that he’s going down there makes me more comfortable. That’s another standpoint of it as well. Me and that kid are actually really close.”
The big picture for Georgia
Georgia has five defensive linemen committed already. Breland would be a major addition should he land in Athens.
Georgia has been out to hammer the position group in this class after the mass exodus from the program along the defensive line in recent years. Names like Jalen Carter, Travon Walker, Devonte Wyatt and Jordan Davis are all now starting in the NFL.
Bear Alexander transferred to USC in the offseason. Georgia will lose a few more this offseason.
Whether or not Georgia lands Breland, they will continue to be players for two major targets in five-star LJ McCray and Michai Boireau.
Florida four-star commit Nasir Johnson is also a name that could see some more buzz in the coming weeks. Johnson visited Georgia last week for the Kentucky game.
