Lee Summit (Mo.) four-star defensive lineman Williams Nwaneri is set to make his college decision. The No. 1 overall prospect in the On3 rankings for the class of 2024 has Georgia among his final group.

The Bulldogs join Oklahoma, Missouri, Tennessee and Oregon. Nwaneri took official visits to four of the five programs still left on the board. He has an official visit to Oregon scheduled for Sept. 22.

Nwaneri was in Athens for his official visit on June 2. He took in Oklahoma (June 9), Tennessee (June 16) and Missouri (June 23) to close out the summer.

On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine has Missouri out front at the moment. The in-state Tigers have a 67.8 percent chance of landing the top-ranked player in the class of 2024 according to RPM.

Missouri has surged in the last 48 hours according to RPM.

What did he say about Georgia?

Nwaneri visited Georgia first this summer. The visit was a landmark experience for Nwaneri. He spoke highly of Kirby Smart and staff after the visit.

He went in-depth with On3’s Director of Recruiting Chad Simmons following the visit. Nwaneri was impressed with the way the visit went.

“They did a great job,” Nwaneri told On3 back on June 4. “I feel like they set the bar really high. With them setting the bar high, it’s going to be easy to compare them to the other OVs that are coming up.”

Nwaneri got an idea of how the Bulldogs envision him in their scheme. They have their eyes on a role played by another former five-star.

“They want to use me in a really similar way to how they use Mykel,” said Nwaneri, the No. 2 overall prospect and No. 1 defensive lineman in the 2024 On300. “Basically, I’d be a big end and also play a little bit at JACK. The JACK is standing up, moving around, dropping into coverage. It’s basically the same thing, just coming off the EDGE.”

The big picture for Georgia

Georgia loaded up on commits for the interior of the defensive line earlier this summer. Commitments from Joseph Jonah-Ajonye, Jordan Thomas, Justin Greene and Nnamdi Ogboko highlighted the early months of summer.

Nwaneri would only add to a stacked group. Georgia has seen elite talent walk out of their facility and into the generational wealth of the NFL in the last two years.

It is important for the Bulldogs to replenish their ranks in the 2024 class and the 2025 class potentially. Nwaneri would be a big piece should he join the Bulldogs.

Williams is only entering his sophomore season in Athens but the NFL has already begun taking stock of the talented former five-star.

Nwaneri would play a role similar to Williams. Pairing them for a year and then letting Nwaneri take over the role in 2025 could be an easy transition.
