This week, the top spot in the SEC East is on the line. The Georgia-Missouri matchup is likely to decide who heads to Atlanta to represent the division later this year in the SEC Championship Game and could have implications on the College Football Playoff race too. The DawgsHQ dives into how we think the battle between Bulldogs and Tigers plays out while also sharing out takes against the spread on a couple of the top games from across the country.

*** Georgia was a 14.5-point favorite last week against Florida and covered the spread, winning by 23. All five of us had UGA covering and pick up a point. This week, the Bulldogs are 15-point favorites over Missouri. ***

Jeremy Johnson (19-24-3)

Missouri will be a real challenge for Georgia. The Dawgs will make a statement in the second half to run away for the game against the Tigers. I’ll be keeping an eye on Javon Bullard. Feels like he could be due for a big day. (Georgia 41, Missouri 28)

Rusty Mansell

I like Georgia’s physicality in this game. Missouri is explosive, but it’s hard to hang with these Dawgs for four quarters. You know Kirby Smart wants to take it to them this week and make the Tigers quit. (Georgia 38, Missouri 20)

I’ve said all week and do believe that Missouri is the best team Georgia has faced to this point. The Tigers can score often and quickly with their offensive weapons, and Cook brings a running element that was proven to Georgia fits earlier in the season. We’re no longer in the early season, however. Georgia looked pretty complete against Florida, and the Dawgs have a chance to prove that’s true in this one. This one likely tells you what you need to know about Daylen Everette. Big game for him moving forward. (Georgia 45, Missouri 27)

Jake Rowe (21-22-3)

It all comes back to the Sanford Stadium environment for me. The crowd in CoMo was electric last year and the Bulldogs struggled with it. I think the same will happen to the visiting team this year. The Tigers are going to hit some chunk plays and they’re going to throw some new looks at the Bulldogs, but when it comes time to execute in the big moments, I just trust the home team more. I expect a big game from the Georgia pass rush and for Rara Thomas to get loose in the passing game. (Georgia 34, Missouri 17)

Palmer Thombs (25-18-3)

I have gone back and forth on whether I think Georgia covers in this one this week. Missouri is likely the best team that Georgia has played, but by that same token, the Bulldogs are without a doubt the best team the Tigers have seen this season. Overall, this is a game of matchups. I like the way Georgia matches up better – its offense compared to the opposing defense and vice versa. Eli Drinkwitz, Kirby Moore and the Tigers are going to have a good game plan. I think they score, but I like Georgia’s offense to score even more. Carson Beck is able to dice up a secondary that has struggled. Meanwhile, on the defensive side of the ball for Georgia, I’m watching Tykee Smith, how he handles the matchup with Luther Burden and if the Bulldogs decide to do something different there (i.e. Malaki Starks). I’ll say no cover, but it’s close. (Georgia 38, Missouri 24)
