It was when Harris left the vehicle that the officer saw that the driver’s side seat belt was still buckled, indicating that the sophomore defender had been sitting on top of it rather than wearing it. The arresting officer also noticed that the window tint looked dark and tested it. It tested at four percent light transmission, which is below the legal threshold. Harris was cited for the seatbelt, tint, and tag as well as an expired registration, which has been invalid since March of this year. After checking the Georgia Department of Revenue, it was confirmed that Harris did not have insurance.
Harris was booked into the Athens-Clarke County Jail at 10:40 p.m. ET on five misdemeanors — reckless driving, no seat belt, no insurance, expired tag, and improper window tent. Bond was $10 on each of chose charges, bringing the total to $50. He was released on bond at 11:49 p.m. ET.
