The Georgia Bulldogs dipped into the Lone Star State on Monday evening, adding their thirteenth commitment of the Class of 2022 in Houston-based wideout Dillon Bell.

“I couldn’t hold it in anymore. I knew Friday that I was going to Georgia, and I wanted to tell the world about it,” Bell told On3’s Chad Simmons. “I see great opportunities for me at Georgia, and I get to play for great coaches. The players are very welcoming, the coaches welcomed me with open arms, and I know Georgia is the school for me.”

Georgia coaches received the news warmly and heaped on some lofty praise for the 6-foot-2, 200-pound wideout in the forms of some flattery with NFL comparisons.

“They were so excited to have me. They love how I move, how strong I am, and what I can do on the field,” Bell told Simmons. “They compared me to AJ Brown and Chris Godwin, so they really like my game a lot.”

While Houston hasn’t exactly been a hotbed for the Bulldogs over the years, Bell already has a connection on the team with a former Texan-turned-Tennessean — freshman wideout Adonai Mitchell, who he grew up working out alongside.

“It is crazy. We were close in middle school, and we worked out with the same trainer. I hung out with him a lot when at Georgia,” Bell told Simmons. “It is going to be a strong duo with us on the field together there.”

For Bell, it was another strong duo in red and black that helped to shape his decision.

“I love Coach [Kirby] Smart and Coach Hank (Cortez Hankton, wide receivers),” Bell said. “Both are great guys, and I’m excited to play for them.”

It should come as no surprise that the top Dawg took a vested interest, imparting his philosophies upon Bell straight away.

“Coach Smart has great character, and I love his energy,” Bell said. “He is just my kind of guy. I like his style as a coach, I like how he treats his players, and I know he’s going to continue to be successful.”

Hankton, meanwhile, was afforded the opportunity to coach up the new commit, and the experience was one which stuck with Bell.

“Coach Hank is a great teacher. He showed me a lot, and he taught me a lot at camp. He took his time with me,” he said. “It was great working out with him. I know he can make me better. He already did, and he took his time with me to make sure I got it right.”

Bell, a product of Houston’s The Kinkaid School becomes Georgia’s second wide receiver commitment of the Class of 2022.

He joins North Cobb wideout De’Nylon Morrissette, who pledged his services to the Bulldogs in late April.
