Dillon Bell injury update: Georgia WR's prognosis much better than originally thought
There’s a chance that Georgia wideout Dillon Bell could miss just one game after suffering an ankle/lower leg injury against Tennessee on Saturday. Sources tell DawgsHQ that Bell got a very positive report this morning and that he is not dealing with an high-ankle injury or one that will require surgery. Matt Zenitz of CBSSports was the first to report.
According to those same sources, Bell currently has a “good” shot of playing in the Bulldogs regular-season finale against Georgia Tech. Serving as UGA’s top X-receiver this season, Bell has caught 35 passes for 405 yards and leads all pass catchers with four touchdowns. He also has eight carries for 106 yards and a score.
After a second-quarter carry deep inside the Georgia red zone, Bell came up limping with a low-leg injury. The Bulldogs went on to score and take a 14-10 lead. The Texas native later rejoined the team on the sideline but he was listed as “out for now” according to the ESPN telecast. An announcement was made in the third quarter that Bell would not be returning to the game.

Losing Bell didn’t impact Georgia must against the Volunteers as the Bulldogs went on to score on the play immediately after his injury. They then put up 17 more points to beat the Volunteers 31-14. With Bell out, Georgia got some other receivers involved. London Humphreys filled the spot at split end with true freshman Nitro Tuggle spelling him. Humphreys had three catches for a team-high 63 yards and Tuggle hauled in two passes for 25 yards.
Georgia has UMass this Saturday with kickoff set for 12:45 p.m. ET on The SEC Network. The Bulldogs will then turn around and play their in-state rival on the Friday night after Thanksgiving. Clean, Old-Fashioned Hate is set for 7:30 p.m. ET on ABC.
