Dominic Lovett says goodbye to Georgia on way to NFL Draft

Georgia wide receiver Dominic Lovett‘s college career has come to an end. After serving as the Bulldogs’ second-leading receiver the past two seasons, Lovett is out of eligibility and will be moving on to the NFL Draft. These days, however, with extra years of eligibility being handed out regularly, the Illinois native officially declared on Friday.

Lovett punctuated his college career with a statement that he released via instagram. He used the platform to thank the staffs at both Georgia and Missouri.

“First and foremost, I want to thank GOD for blessing me with the opportunity to play at two great Universities. Without my Lord and Savior none of this would have been possible. To my family, thank you for the unconditional love and encouragement you have given me. I would not be who I am or where I am without your unending love and support.

“To coach (Eliah) Drinkwitz and the Mizzou coaching staff, thank you for giving me the opportunity to start my career at the collegiate level. To the great Mizzou support staff, thank you for your unwavering support and for pushing me to succeed on and off the field. To my Mizzou teammates and the NWO boys, we created a connectiong and bond that goes beyond football, and I will cherish you all forever.

“To coach (Kirby) Smart and the entire UGA staff, I want to express my deepest gratitude for giving me the opportunity to wear the rd and black as well as believing in me and guiding me to becoming the best version of myself on and off the field. To my outstanding Bulldogs support staff, thank you for seeing and supporting me beyond football To my CTG boys and teammates, I deeply value the relationship we have developed and will forever treasure every moment we have shared.

“To Dawg nation, thank you for welcoming a kid from Venice, Illinois and for always showing up and being the best fans throughout my two years at UGA. My four-year journey as a college athlete has provided me with an abundance of experiences, values, and lessions that will carry me into the next chapter of my life. With that being said, I will officially be declaring for the 2025 NFL Draft.”

Lovett arrived at Georgia two years ago after a competitive transfer portal recruitment that involved LSU and Alabama. He caught 54 passes for 613 yards and four touchdowns in 2023, finishing second to Brock Bowers for the team lead in receiving yards. This season he hauled in 59 passes for 607 yards and six touchdowns. Two of those scores were instrumental in the Bulldogs dramatic come-from-behind, eight-overtime win over Georgia Tech to finish the regular season.
