After two seasons as Georgia’s staring left guard, Dylan Fairchild is ready to take his game to the next level. The West Forsyth High School product has announced via Instagram that he is foregoing his final year of eligibility and entering the 2025 NFL Draft.

Fairchild’s time at Georgia comes to an end after 24 starts. He got his shot during the 2023 season when Amarius Mims went down at right tackle, forcing Xavier Truss to move over from his left guard spot to fill the need. Fairchild went on to start 10 games.

The 2024 season saw him take on an even bigger role. Fairchild started all 14 games but he was also a look-to leader for the Bulldogs, participating regularly in media sessions. While the Bulldogs didn’t reach their ultimate goal this season, Fairchild was one of quite a few Georgia players who fought through injury to win an SEC title.

“Toughness, character, what he stands for as a man,” Kirby Smart said earlier this season when asked about Fairchild. “I have a lot of respect for Dylan and the way he’s gone about the approach. He got up in front of the team and told his story. He talked about the years he spent on scout team and how much it means to him to earn what he’s gotten here and how hard he’s had to work for it. Lot of respect for him. His greatest attribute is probably his toughness or his power.”

Fairchild spent four seasons in Athens after being one of the top offensive linemen in the peach state in the 2021 class. He was the No. 108 overall prospect in the country per the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that includes all four websites that publish recruiting rankings. He was the No. 6 interior offensive lineman and the No. 12 player in Georgia.

The Bulldogs have now lost three offensive linemen to eligibility/NFL Draft. Xavier Truss’ time is up at UGA after six seasons and Tate Ratledge announced the he is forgoing a sixth, super-senior season.
