One of Georgia’s biggest targets in the 2024 class has reopened his recruitment. Chandle (Chandler, Ariz.) quarterback Dylan Raiola has de-committed from Ohio State. He had been on the Buckeyes commitment list since May 9, 2022.

Prior to pledging to OSU, Raiola was being heavily pursued by Georgia. He had taken three visits to Athens with one of those coming in March of 2022. The other two trips to Athens were in 2022.

At 6-foot-3 225 pounds, Raiola is No. 1 across the board in the 2024 class according to the On3 Consensus. The On3 stand-alone rankings, see him the exact same way — No. 1 in the nation, at his position, and in his state.

“Advanced arm talent with the ability to make a wide variety of high-level throws as a high school underclassman. Looks like the top quarterback prospect and overall arm talent in the 2024 cycle early on. Physically developed at around 6-foot-3, 210 pounds. Has a natural, loose throwing motion with unique arm dexterity to deliver off-platform and from multiple arm slots. Already has a deep catalog of throws as a rising junior in high school. Easily drives the ball to all levels of the field. Played both under center and in the shotgun as a sophomore. Ahead of the curve as a ball-handler and in the quick passing game. Shows good footwork and awareness in the pocket. Capable of creative plays in the face of pressure. Primarily a pass-first quarterback as a sophomore, not running for many yards. Turned in one of the more productive sophomore seasons among top 2024 quarterbacks. The son of 14-year NFL center Dominic Raiola. Also a standout baseball player as a pitcher and catcher.” — On3 Scouting

It is unclear how heavily or even if Georgia will pursue the elite talent. On one hand, it makes sense that the staff would reach out and continue to recruit him considering his previous interest. The Bulldogs don’t appear to be taking a quarterback in the 2023 cycle and the transfer portal is constantly swiping quarterbacks from the reserve ranks.

On the other hand, Georgia has a big-time quarterback committed in the 2023 class. Ryan Puglisi (Avon Old Farms; Avon, Ct.) committed to Georgia in October and he’s the nation’s No. 38 overall prospect and No. 3 quarterback per the On3 stand-along rankings. The rest of the industry hasn’t rated Puglisi as highly quite yet.

Raiola is the son of former Detroit Lions and Nebraska center Dominic Raiola. The Cornhuskers are though to be a major contender for his signature after changing coaches from Scott Frost to Matt Rhule.

Georgia currently has the No. 3 ranked 2024 class according to the On3 Consensus. The Bulldogs have six commitments total for that class.
