In what is likely unsurprising news to many, Georgia is down a commitment for the Class of 2024, as four-star quarterback Dylan Raiola of Buford High School has officially made known that he will be taking the next step in his career with the Nebraska Cornhuskers.

The nation’s No. 17 overall prospect in the 2024 On3 Industry Ranking, Raiola had been committed to the Bulldogs since May 15 of this year. He initially committed to the Ohio State Buckeyes in May of 2022 before backing off of that decision in December of that year.

He had long held the Bulldogs in high regard, however.

“How Georgia goes about their business has always jumped out to me,” Raiola told On3 in January. “They are very professional. Coach (Kirby) Smart is a unique head coach. He is a winner in the SEC. He’s won back-to-back national championships and Georgia is rolling right now. Coach Smart’s trying to make Georgia into Alabama, and you can kind of feel the shift going on. I’ve been to Georgia a lot and it is a special place.”

Raiola transferred to the Peach State ahead of his senior football season after playing in both Texas and Arizona in his high school career. As a result, he attended the majority of Georgia’s home games this season and was seen as a leader for the class, including organizing a much hyped throwing session with several targets soon after his commitment.

“It’s been awesome being able to recruit for a guy like Coach Smart and the rest of their staff. The staff is incredible. For me to be able to get out here and throw with these guys, to see what it’s like to be out here at Georgia and around some committed guys, I have some key pieces that we want to add so making that a priority, we wanted to do this,” Raiola said at that time. “Having them out here, it means a lot to me, and getting the work in, it was tremendous.”

Tangible information regarding the status of his commitment to the Bulldogs began to surface on Monday, however.

Since that time, Georgia coaches have made their way to Buford, but the four-star quarterback and Nebraska legacy stuck to his plan to visit Lincoln for a final, defining visit.

With Raiola having decommitted, the Bulldogs now have one scholarship quarterback in the Class of 2024 in four-star Ryan Puglisi. Additionally, Georgia has a preferred walk-on commitment from unranked quarterback Colter Ginn.
