Five-star CB Ellis Robinson locked in with Georgia, shuts down recruitment
Georgia has been red hot on the recruiting trail for over two months now, gaining 13 commitments since May 15. It got more great news on Thursday night as the nation’s top cornerback, Ellis Robinson IV, took to Twitter and announced that after spending a few weeks of June on the road, he’s shutting his recruitment down.
“Wanna thank all the schools that continue to recruit me but after talking with my family I have decided not to take anymore official visits,” Robinson tweeted. “Time to lock in and get ready for the season!!”
The IMG Academy cornerback took three official visits last month. One was to Georgia on June 2 and he followed that up with a trip to Miami on June 9. The Hurricanes have been pushing quite hard and Alabama took its best show on June 23.
Ultimately it appears as if Georgia and defensive backs coach Fran Brown have won out. Robinson gave his commitment to the Bulldogs back on February 1. Since then he has been a vocal recruiter for the Bulldogs and has stated multiples times on the record that he is solid. Still, with visits still taking place, other programs were holding out hope that he might re-open his recruitment.

On3 Scouting on Ellis Robinson
At 6-feet 175 pounds, Robinson is ranked as the nation’s No. 8 overall prospect per the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that takes the ratings of all four recruiting coverage websites into account. Robinson is the No. 1 cornerback in America and the No. 2 player in Florida.
“Ball-hawking defensive back with elite length and ability to make plays on the ball as a high school underclassman. Dominated competition in New York’s Catholic league as a sophomore, bringing in eight interceptions. Robinson made several impressive, acrobatic picks. Has advanced ball skills as a cornerback, which he pairs with outstanding length. Measured in at 5-foot-11.5, 169 pounds with a 6-foot-7 wing-span prior to his junior season. Also tests as a very good athlete, running a 4.56 second electronically-timed 40-yard dash. Transferred to IMG Academy for his junior season and should see an uptick in competition as a high school upperclassman.”
Georgia signed three cornerback prospects in its No. 2-ranked 2023 recruiting class. Robinson is the only cornerback it has committed for the 2024 cycle but the Bulldogs do have a pair of safeties on the commitment list in Peyton Woodyard and Jaylen Heyward.
