Find someone who loves you like Todd McShay loves Nakobe Dean
Todd McShay has a message for the Nakobe Dean doubters.
‘Stop. It.’
Ok, that’s not a direct quote.
But it’s the essence of what the NFL Draft analyst said on the First Draft Podcast with Mel Kiper and Field Yates.
Essentially, the NFL Draft analyst wants NFL scouts to get the Nakobe Dean doubt off their clipboards and iPhone notes.
Nakobe Dean didn’t do anything at the NFL Combine except measurements and media.
McShay doesn’t sweat it.
“He’s not going to run a great time. I know that. He has shorter arms. I know that. That’s fine. And (his measurement) wasn’t that short,” he said.
Todd McShay simply won’t suffer the Nakobe Dean slander
I didn’t realize that Nakobe Dean had so many doubters.
I admit, his height and measurements seemed to me like something that people might question.
But watching him play overshadows any of that doubt, in my mind anyway.
Granted, I watched a lot of Georgia football games this year.
I carry significant bias with me in that evaluation.

So it was refreshing to hear Todd McShay offer up the same assessment. It made me feel smart. Or smarter, anyway.
“Every scout you talk to in the league, it drives me crazy. They try to tell me what Nakobe Dean can’t do. ‘He has short arms. He falls off of tackles. He’s gonna get enveloped by bigger blockers in the NFL.’ Well I don’t see that in the SEC for 15 games this past season.”
Dean, if you can’t tell, is in McShay’s first-round NFL Draft projections
Dean joins three other Bulldogs in Todd McShay’s first-round NFL Draft projection.
Regardless of what his measurables are or aren’t, McShay says one thing matters above all else.
“His arms weren’t that short. They’re right around average over the five-year Combine tally if you go back and look at it. If he runs somewhere in the 4.5’s 4.6’s, great. Because he plays like a 4.4 linebacker on tape.”
Nakobe Dean will work out at Georgia’s Pro Day on Wednesday, March 16th.
I’ll be sure not to bring up his arms.
