The Georgia Bulldogs have put together an outstanding EDGE class this cycle, and one of the key components of it is four-star prospect Darren Ikinnagbon, who has officially been announced as a signee on Wednesday.

At almost 6-foot-6 and over 260 pounds, Ikinnagbon is a product of Hillside, New Jersey’s Hillside High School and ranks as the nation’s No. 80 overall prospect in the Class of 2025 per the On3 Industry Ranking. Ikinnagbon is the No. 7 EDGE prospect for the cycle and No. 2 prospect in the Garden State per the same metric.

While Ohio State and Penn State prioritized him heavily, Ikinnagbon connected heavily with Georgia outside linebackers coach Chidea Uzo-Diribe early on and took a no nonsense approach to his recruitment.

“They just have that winning mentality. It’s Georgia. They do a good job recruiting. I really mess with the coaches there…They’ve taught me a lot about the game through the film they’ve sent me,” he told DawgsHQ in April. “Our relationship is good. We’re still building it. Me and Coach [Chidera] Diribe talk almost every day. He’s a good person, and he wants the best for his players. He wants to see them succeed.”

Once committed, he never seemed to look back, which may be credited to the approach the Dawgs took in handling him according to those close to him.

“Coach Diribe and Coach Smart made him a priority in the process,” Ikinnagbon’s head coach Barris Grant told Steve Wiltfong of the commitment. “They have a vision for his fit in their defense. UGA has a rich history and great leadership within their position groups that make incoming freshmen comfortable enough to join a star-studded program…I think UGA is getting a 6-6, 265-pound war daddy. He’s going to be a really young senior at 17-years old. He will grow into his already large frame and become a difference-maker in the SEC.”

Darren Ikinnagbon originally committed to the Georgia Bulldogs on April 13 of this year.
