Four-star Georgia DB commit Rashad Johnson flips to Texas A&M
Recruiting news for the Georgia Bulldogs has been largely positive for some time, but on Saturday prior to kickoff against Tennessee Tech, the Dawgs took a hit in the Class of 2025, losing the commitment of four-star safety Rashad Johnson.
The 6-foot-2, 190 pound senior opted to flip his pledge to the Aggies of Texas A&M.
Johnson, a senior defender from Bushnell, Florida’s South Sumter High School, had previously committed to the Bulldogs in mid-July, following a strong push that began in May.
At the time, Johnson sounded quite firm in his standing with the Bulldogs.
“It’s the best,” Johnson told DawgsHQ upon committing initially. “You’re being coached by the best at what they do. That’s the best place that is going to develop me. Georgia is a safety school. It’s the standard. I don’t see any other school putting defensive backs in the league like Georgia is doing it. I’m going to come in and work. It’s not just football, it’s the life after it too.”
The Dawgs overcame the likes of Penn State and Louisville, as well as Texas A&M, at that time.
Relationships were a big part of the reason why, though it now appears those bonds may have strengthened in College Station.

“My relationships with the coaches, the relationships those coaches have with my coaches and the development part were big things in my decision. I went over a lot and I looked at the four schools, but one stood out a little more.”
Georgia’s class now stands at twenty-one commitments for the cycle after the loss of Rashad Johnson. Currently, the Dawgs rank as the No. 4 class in the nation for the Class of 2025.
Elsewhere in the defensive backfield, the Bulldogs have been keeping close tabs on in-state prospects Rasean Dinkins and Tae Harris, a former Dawg commit who is now part of Clemson’s class, of late.
