Georgia’s linebacker corps just got better in a big way, as four-star prospect Kris Jones of Fairfax, Virginia’s Fairfax High School announced his commitment to the Bulldogs on Sunday evening.

A 6-foot-2, 215-pound linebacker, Jones is ranked as the nation’s No. 128 overall prospect in the Class of 2024 per the On3 Industry Ranking.

Jones spent his official visit to Athens on the weekend of June 16.

While Florida had long been trending, ultimately, it was the Bulldogs who prevailed for his services.

“Georgia is just Georgia. They are a powerhouse,” Jones told On3’s Chad Simmons in April. “They know how to build their players up and get them ready for the NFL. I got to watch spring practice when I was there last time and it is different there. You could tell they won the national championship two years in a row. They had great energy, they were very physical and they were working hard on everything.”

Even upon picking up the offer last year, Jones indicated that he was heavily interested in what the Bulldogs had done at his position.

“When I got the news, I was excited because Georgia is one of my dreams schools,” Jones told DawgsHQ at the time. “Coach Schumann called and said we evaluated the tape from the camp and gave me things I need to work on for the upcoming season. He also said that he liked me as a person, my character, and my family. I have a dream of playing in the NFL, and I know Georgia’s coaching staff is more than equipped to get me there.”

Kris Jones ranks as the nation’s No. 10 overall linebacker in the Class of 2024 per the On3 Industry Ranking.

Kris Jones bolsters Georgia’s Class of 2024

Jones is just the latest commitment for the Bulldogs and the second linebacker commitment of the cycle, joining five-star prospect Justin Williams.

Despite a recent decommitment and subsequent flip to Auburn by longtime linebacker pledge Demarcus Riddick, the Bulldogs still sit atop the On3 Industry Class Rankings for 2024.

Other upcoming decisions could shape the face of Georgia’s recruiting class, as well, with stars such as KJ Bolden, Williams Nwaneri, and Nathaniel Frazier set to announce their decisions in early August.

Additionally, Georgia linebacker target Chris Cole is also expected to announce a commitment in the coming weeks, though he has yet to confirm a date.
