Four-star OL Mason Short officially signs with Georgia
Evans (Ga.) interior offensive lineman Mason Short won’t have to go far for his collegiate career. Staying in-state after being committed to Alabama earlier in the process, Short has officially signed with the University of Georgia.
Short, the first player to be announced by Georgia on National Signing Day, ranks as the No. 386 overall prospect, No. 30 interior offensive lineman and No. 52 prospect in the state of Georgia.
“You’re never going to go wrong with Georgia,” Short told On3 at the time of his commitment. “It’s a program that’s always going to produce guys for the NFL and they have a history of development.”
Short chose Georgia in April over Clemson, Kentucky, Ohio State and others. His relationship with UGA offensive line coach Stacy Searels was a huge factor in what separated the Bulldogs from the rest.

“Coach Stacy Searels is probably one of the best offensive line coaches in the country. What attracted me to the program and Coach Searels was his relationships with his guys and how they feed off of him and his coaching and his teaching, as well as their interactions on and off the field with each other,” he continued. “It’s the same with coach Kirby Smart and his message to his players. He says that you can’t hide from the smoke at Georgia. That’s true at a lot of places, but at Georgia, it’s really true.”
Short is among five offensive linemen in the Class of 2025 after seven signed in 2024. Others include Parkview (Ga.) four-star Cortez Smith, Westlake (Ga.) four-star Juan Gaston, Langston Hughes (Ga.) four-star Dontrell Glover and Peachtree Ridge (Ga.) four-star Dennis Uzochukwu.
Coach’s Report
“It’s been a blessing to have a kid like him in the program,” Evans High School head coach Barrett Davis said. “It’s a blessing to have any great kid in the program regardless of athletic talent. Mason is a humble kid. He’s a big kid obviously. He’s been a servant leader type for us here at the high school, who makes good grades, works hard and he’s been a blessing. There’s no too big or too small for him. He’ll sweep the locker room when you ask him to do it and he’ll hammer somebody on Friday night if you need him to. He’s been a blessing, him and his family. They’re all Evans alumni. It’s been great to have him in our program. He’s been a great example.”
