George Pickens doubled down on his Draft hopes at the NFL Combine.

“I’m very confident,” Pickens told NFL Combine reporters. “I know I can present to teams exactly what a first-round pick is.”

Pickens also said he hopes to run a blazing fast 40-yard dash that had some people saying various versions of ‘Whatever, man.’

“Probably a 4.3, 4.4, and people don’t really know that,” Pickens said. “Me just saying that number, people are like, ‘Whoa.”

Regardless of what George Pickens says, this confidence and bluster don’t mean a thing if other people don’t believe it, too.

NFL scouts need to believe it.

His teammates need to believe it.

The reactions of Jamaree Salyer and Nolan Smith tell me that they do.

Jamaree Salyer compared George Pickens to a volcano at the NFL Combine

It’s offensive line and running backs day at the NFL Combine.

Jamaree Salyer was asked about George Pickens. His geological comparison seems to back up the confidence George Pickens has in himself.

“It’s kind of like a volcano waiting to erupt. Everybody knows he’s good. But I don’t think people really understand how special he is,” Salyer said.

“That’s one of those special talents, man. A team would be lucky to have that on their roster. He’s freaky. I’ll leave it at that.”

Nolan Smith weighed in on Pickens’s talent after seeing a list of NFL WR Draft hopefuls

Nolan Smith will more than likely attend the NFL Combine next season.

He’s paying attention to the projected spots of his 14 Georgia teammates, and took umbrage with one set of rankings in particular.

Smith will probably be joined by safety transfer Tykee Smith at the 2023 NFL Combine. Smith also saw George Pickens up close.

Seems like he would tweak this list as well.

I understand that the doubt surrounding Pickens likely has something to do with his character issues (shoving a Georgia Tech player into a wall, spraying a Tennessee player with a water bottle) and his ACL injury.

He’s had time to meet with NFL teams and let them see how much he has or hasn’t matured. He has a highlight reel that speaks for itself.

George Pickens also has a chance to prove anyone doubting his physical abilities wrong at the NFL Combine and Georgia Pro Day.

If that doesn’t convince them to draft him in the first round, then he’ll get a chance to live up to his words when he actually plays in the NFL.

One way or another, Pickens sees something in himself. His teammates do, too.

Now it’s time to show everyone else.
