George Pickens just became the face of the NFL. Well, the NFL’s Twitter profile, anyway – and in 2022, that’s practically the same thing.

After a night of firsts, the league paid tribute to the rookie out of Georgia, where his football career would have been much brighter if not for an ACL injury last season.

As they say on the internet, ‘shoot your shot.’

This person did.

The NFL obliged.

An unlikely turn of events? Perhaps. But it makes sense if you’ve been paying attention.

After Georgia’s NFL Draft success, I believe these Dawgs alums are just getting started in the league. Get used to more of where that came from.

As for the firsts, even in a Preseason game, this was highlight reel stuff out of George Pickens

If Pickens is a NFL heel, this is his signature move. No doubt about it.

Pickens even had his first ‘Wow, did he really do that?’ touchdown celebration.

See what I mean about him becoming a heel?

Georgia Tech and Tennessee already think he is one. If you know, you know.

As long as the plays keep comin’, Pittsburgh fans will be fine, just fine with it.

This really has been the summer of George

The hype surrounds us each day on social media.

It continued in a NFL Preseason game for George Pickens.

I understand those who will wait for the real season to get their hopes up.

But at a certain point, the actual evidence is hard to ignore.

Just take a look at what fellow Georgia football NFL Draft picks Nakobe Dean and Jordan Davis did for the Philadelphia Eagles.

Travon Walker already looks like a force in Jacksonville, living up to his first overall pick billing.

Yes, I know. Preseason. Glorified scrimmage.

Just don’t be surprised if we look back at some point during the real, live, big boy NFL season and say, ‘Yeah, it wasn’t just college ball. There was proof there in camp. And there was proof there in the Preseason.’

Either that, or they will fizzle out as magnificent busts.

Or, it’s the first step (for at least one of them) on a long road to earning a magnificent bust.

For Pickens’s sake, hopefully this summer (and fall, and winter?) of George goes much better than it did for Costanza.

Hopefully, he can find a consistent quarterback.

He’s the importer.

Just needs a good-enough exporter to prevent any shrinkage from this NFL hype.
