The safety position was already off to a strong start for the Georgia Bulldogs in the Class of 2026, but on Sunday, things took a step to another level, with the addition of four-star prospect Jordan Smith.

A product of Warner Robins, Georgia’s Houston County High School, Smith ranks as the nation’s No. 75 overall prospect for the class. He is also the No. 6 safety and No. 7 prospect in the Peach State for the cycle per the On3 Industry Ranking.

At 6-foot-2, 180 pounds, he’s been firmly in the crosshairs of the in-state team for some time. He’s been eyeing them just as long.

“I have been to Athens a lot and the best thing is their standard. The standard is the standard at Georgia,” Smith told On3’s Chad Simmons of the Dawgs recently. “It is like one big machine in Athens. How they operate, how they work… Everyone is tough, everyone works and everyone does their part, so it is a good environment to be in. The recruits come in, they compete, they work and they excel. Georgia is doing a lot of good things.”

And for Smith, the bonds with the red and black run quite deep.

“Growing up in Georgia, you’re going to see a lot of Georgia football,” Smith told DawgsHQ’s Jeremy Johnson last fall. “My family are big fans of the team. They have left it up to me to make my decision.”

Jordan Smith is the third defensive back to join the cycle for the Bulldogs. Fellow safeties Zech Fort, a four-star, and Kealan Jones, a three-star, are also already on the list for the cycle.

With Smith now on board, the Bulldogs will turn their eyes toward the Tuesday decision of Five-Star Plus+ offensive tackle Jackson Cantwell, who is currently on campus in Athens. He ranks as the nation’s No. 1 overall prospect in the Class of 2026.
