Georgia, Georgia Tech to square off on Black Friday again in 2025

Last season’s Friday night showdown between Georgia and Georgia Tech, a game that needed eight overtimes to settle, was so good that they’re running it back in 2025. In reality, the quality of that game probably has little to do with it but the game will be played on Black Friday again. Per an announcement on The ACC Network on Monday night, its set for November 28 and kickoff time for the matchup will be announced at a later date.
This is the second modification to this particular matchup between the Bulldogs and Yellow Jackets. The announcement was made in October that Georgia and it’s instate rival would meet in Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta instead of Tech’s home turf.
It will be the first time that Clean, Old-Fashioned Hate has taken place off-campus since the opening of Bobby Dodd Stadium in 1912. This past year’s Friday night kickoff marked the first time Georgia had hosted a non-Saturday football game in 30 years. It was the first time the Bulldogs played the Yellow Jackets on a day other than Saturday in 29 years.
It was an absolute barn burner of a game with Georgia looking out of it on several occasions. The Yellow Jackets carried a 17-0 advantage going into half time and led by 14 points at two separate junctures in the fourth quarter.
The Yellow Jackets scored their final touchdown of regulation with 5:37 left in the game, giving them a 27-13 lead. Georgia managed to score 118 seconds later to cut the lead to one score and Dan Jackson forced a Haynes King fumble with 2:05 left to give the Bulldogs a chance to tie it.

Carson Beck found Dominic Lovett for a touchdown, the second time in as many possessions, to tie the game and the defense held in the final 1:01 to get the game to overtime. The two teams mirrored each other for seven straight overtimes.
They both got touchdowns and extra points in the first possession. Each team got a touchdown and missed the two point try in the second period, sending it into a battle of the two-point tries. Georgia finally came out on top in the eighth go-round on a Nate Frazier run up the gut to come away with a 44-42 victory.
The win moved Georgia to 72-41-5 all time. It’s the third overtime game that the two teams have played in the past 12 years with the Bulldogs coming out on top in two of those, 2013 and 2024. Tech got the better of the 2014 overtime matchup in Athens, a game that it tied in the final seconds. The Bulldogs current win streak over their in-state rival is seven, which is tied for the longest run in series history.
