Georgia announced a date of its annual homecoming game on Friday afternoon. The festivities are set to occur on Saturday, November 4th when the Bulldogs host Missouri at Sanford Stadium.

“Numerous activities will be taking place throughout the week and weekend including the annual Homecoming Parade and crowning of the Homecoming King and Queen which will be announced at halftime of the football game,” UGA shared in a press release on the announcement.

Other details will be coming in the weeks to follow, and no time has been set for the game – typically made public just under two weeks before the game in the usual SEC scheduling announcement.

Scheduling Announcements…

So far, Georgia fans know kickoff times for four games this fall. The Bulldogs will open their 2023 campaign against UT-Martin at 6:00 p.m. ET on September 2nd. ESPN+ and SEC Network+ will air that game. Then, it’s Georgia and Ball State in Week Two (September 9th) at 12:00 p.m. ET on SEC Network.

Georgia and South Carolina open the final season of SEC on CBS with the conference’s game of the week, September 16th at 3:30 p.m. Of course the annual rivalry game between Georgia and Florida, better known by many as The World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party, will also act as the SEC Game of the Week on CBS to end the month of October.

Georgia fans will be treated to seven home games this season including four straight to open the year. Aside from the previously mentioned contests against UT-Martin, Ball State, South Carolina and Missouri, the Bulldogs will host UAB (September 23rd), Kentucky (October 7th) and Ole Miss (November 11th). Their road trips include games against Auburn (September 30th), Vanderbilt (October 14th), Tennessee (November 18th) and in-state rival Georgia Tech (November 25th) to close out the regular season.

More on Georgia

Kirby Smart and company are looking to make history in 2023. Having won back-to-back championships, Georgia is the Vegas favorite to take home the title for a third straight season. If they do so, they’d be the first team since Minnesota in the 1930s (1934, 1935 and 1936) to three-peat.

Georgia saw 10 players get picked in this spring’s NFL Draft including a trio of first rounders. Jalen Carter, Broderick Jones and Nolan Smith must be replaced on the line of scrimmage while skill players like Stetson Bennett, Kenny McIntosh, Darnell Washington, Kelee Ringo and Christopher Smith also were selected.

Still, the Bulldogs bring back their fair share of talent. The team’s leading receiver of each of the last two seasons, Brock Bowers, returns. As do Ladd McConkey and Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint, each of whom finished top five on the squad. On top of that, Georgia added a pair of players who led their respective squads in receiving through the transfer portal – Dominic Lovett (Missouri) and Rara Thomas (Mississippi State). All that’s to go with an offensive line that has its three primary starters in the middle and four of five from the National Championship Game returning too.

Flip things over to the defensive side of the ball and the story is similar. Nazir Stackhouse, Zion Logue and Warren Brinson played important parts on the defensive line last year. The same could be said about sack leader Mykel Williams, Tramel Walthour and Tyrion Ingram-Dawkins at defensive end. Outside linebacker will have new faces in place, but on the inside are Georgia’s top two tacklers from last season – Smael Mondon and Jamon Dumas-Johnson. Don’t forget about the defensive backs either. Javon Bullard won Defensive MVP of both College Football Playoff games for the Bulldogs while Malaki Starks and Kamari Lassiter were important to the team’s success.
