Marietta (Ga.) linebacker Anthony Kruah is a native of Philadelphia that moved to the Atlanta area while in high school, but he wanted to stay in the Peach State a little bit longer. His flip from North Carolina to Georgia in October made that clear. Wednesday during the first day of the Early Signing Period, Kruah was announced as a signee of the Bulldogs to make that decision official.

“Georgia is my dream school,” Kruah told On3 at the time of his commitment. “Georgia is a great program. Coach Kirby Smart and Coach Schumann are great coaches and they develop players that go to the NFL. The development in the linebacker room, the culture at Georgia and how it is closer to home are the biggest reasons I chose Georgia.”

Kruah called Georgia ‘LBU,’ a phrase you’re hearing more and more when it comes to the Bulldogs. Position coach Glenn Schumann plays a big part in the reason why, and he played a big part in creating that comfort at Georgia for Kruah to flip.

“I honestly love that he’s a role model and a great father to his kids,” Kruah said. “He is the best linebackers coach in the country and I just love how well-spoken he is. We built a strong connection. Coach Schumann is a smart football coach and we talk a lot about football, but we can talk about other things too. He is a great guy that I know can help me. It doesn’t get better than that.”

Kruah made multiple visits to Georgia before announcing his intentions to make the switch from North Carolina. He was in Athens twice in October and checked out Auburn this fall as well. An official visit to Georgia also took place during the summer and laid the groundwork for feelings that eventually led to the flip.

Kruah ranks as the nation’s No. 359 overall prospect and No. 40 linebacker. He’s the 49th ranked player in the Peach State per the On3 Industry Ranking, a proprietary algorithm that compiles ratings and rankings from all four primary recruiting media services to create the most advanced, complete and unbiased rating and ranking measurement.

Scouting Report on Anthony Kruah

“Kruah plays the edge position in high school. He can do a little bit of everything from the linebacker position. Kruah can stand up, diagnose and then attack with some thump. He can also cover. Kruah has a natural quickness and speed to be able to do so. He isn’t completely sure how to read in coverage yet due to his background of playing with his hand along the line of scrimmage. There is no reason to think he can’t long term. He’s a very coachable prospect. He’s a name in the state to know.” – Jeremy Johnson, DawgsHQ
