Georgia is the top-ranked team in the country for another week. The Bulldogs were voted No. 1 by 55 of 63 writers that participate in the AP Poll, outpacing Michigan by 117 points for the top spot.

It’s the 15th straight week Georgia has been on top dating back to last season. Six total teams received votes for the top spot, after three the first two weeks and four in the next two.

Along with Georgia, Michigan (1), Texas (2), Ohio State (1), Florida State (3) and Washington (1) received votes for the top spot. The Buckeyes moved into the top five after beating Notre Dame Saturday night in South Bend, jumping over the Seminoles and a USC team that was passed by Penn State and Washington as well.

Washington State was the biggest mover, up five spots to No. 16, while Oregon State and Ole Miss both dropped five spots.

The Rebels are the highest ranked of four teams Georgia will play this season in the top 25 currently coming in at No. 20. They are followed by Tennessee (No. 21), Florida (No. 22) and Missouri (No. 23). In fact, Georgia plays all four of the ranked opponents consecutively, starting October 28th in Jacksonville against the Gators and ending November 18th at Neyland Stadium in Knoxville versus the Volunteers. Missouri (November 4th) and Ole Miss (November 11th) act as two of Georgia’s remaining three home games this season.

In it’s third remaining home game, Georgia gets a Kentucky team that comes in as the second team out according to “Others Receiving Votes.” The Dawgs and Cats are set to show down two Saturdays from now in Athens on October 7th.

With a 49-21 win over UAB on Saturday night, the Bulldogs moved to 4-0 on the season. Georgia put its slow starting woes behind them with a strong first offensive drive, setting the tone for what was an all around impressive effort on that side of the ball. Carson Beck threw for 338 yards and three touchdowns on 22-of-32 passing while Brock Bowers went over the 100-yard mark for the first time this season with 120 yards and two touchdowns on nine catches. Running back Daijun Edwards followed up a dominant debut last week when he went over 100 yards with two touchdowns in the victory over the Blazers.

Next up for Georgia is its first road trip of the year. The Bulldogs travel to Auburn this coming Saturday where kickoff time of the 128th meeting of the Deep South’s Oldest Rivalry is set for 3:30 p.m. ET on CBS.
