Georgia backup lineman Owen Condon to transfer
The transfer portal has been relatively quiet for the Bulldogs since late January, but that changed on Tuesday afternoon as word came that backup offensive lineman Owen Condon will be moving on.
That news was first reported by On3’s Matt Zenitz.
Condon, a 6-foot-7, 310 pound offensive lineman who’s played both guard and tackle, participated in 22 contests throughout his three years in Athens, including 14 appearances in the 2021 season.
In 2020, he made his lone career start at right tackle in Georgia’s win over the Arkansas Razorbacks.
Per GeorgiaDogs.com, he was also the male recipient of the 2021 Joel Eaves Award, presented each year to the UGA student-athletes with the highest GPA entering the fall semester of his/her senior year.
Originally from Oklahoma City’s Bishop McGuiness High School, Condon was ranked as a four-star prospect and the nation’s No. 425 overall player in the 2018 class per the On3 Consensus.

Georgia’s offensive line outside of Owen Condon
For a deeper look at the offensive front, make sure to check out Palmer Thombs’ spring practice primer.
In it, he touches on the line deeply:
“Sedrick Van Pran and Warren McClendon return as starters and appear solidified into their respective spots at center and right tackle. Warren Ericson also started all but one game last season, however based on performance and the fact that he got his position only after an injury to Tate Ratledge, that right guard spot seems up for grabs. The foursome of Ericson, Ratledge, Amarius Mims and Xavier Truss likely are competing for two spots at the guard positions with Mims and Truss being bigger players for the inside of the offensive line. This position battle, both who starts spring as the No. 1 offensive line and who gets the most time along with what the rotation is like, will be one worth watching.
Meanwhile, Georgia is replacing its starting left tackle from last season. Normally that’d be the biggest concern for a team, but the fact that Broderick Jones started the final four games of the regular season, played extensively in another (Auburn) plus was subbed in for the latter portion of the National Championship Game makes that not as much of a concern. In fact, Jones gets mentioned in the same category as Van Pran and McClendon, seeming to have his spot locked up.
Those seven aren’t the only talented ones in the room, and there could be volatility after its all said and done. Watch out for the likes of Austin Blaske, Dylan Fairchild, Earnest Greene, Micah Morris and Devin Willock to battle for spots on the two-deep.”
