Georgia baseball continues to roll, routes Florida for sweep

Georgia added some extra trimmings to their second SEC series win on Sunday. The No. 4 Bulldogs rolled to a 15-4 win at No. 13 Florida in seven innings to complete the three-game sweep of their SEC rivals.
Georgia’s offense continues to be a major story for Wes Johnson and company in the early part of the season. The Bulldogs plated 15 runs thanks in large part to slapping 13 hits. Georgia’s offense was impactful all weekend. It scored a total of 40 runs over the three days in Gainesville.
The Bulldogs got big performances from Christian Adams, Nolan McCarthy, Slate Alford, Robbie Burnett and Ryland Zaborowski.
Adams smacked two home runs. The first came in the first inning, a three-run shot. The second baseman followed that up with a solo shot in the fifth inning.
Zaborowski added to his early-season tirade with another home run in the sixth inning. Alford, Burnett and McCarthy also hit home runs. Alford drove in two runs. McCarthy drove in three more. Burnett pushed across two as well while Zaborowski ended with four RBI.

Georgia started Leighton Finley on the mound. He earned the win with five innings of work. Finley allowed two hits, one earned run, one walk and he struck out three Gators.
It was Finley’s second win of the season so far. Georgia will head back home with an off day scheduled on Monday. The Bulldogs have a mid-week clash with West Georgia on Tuesday night at Foley Field.
SEC play will return to Foley Field this weekend. No. 16 Auburn rolls into town with a record of 19-5 on the season. The Tigers just took two of three at Kentucky over the weekend, losing a chance to sweep on Sunday with a 5-0 defeat.
First pitch Friday will be 6 p.m. Saturday’s game begins at 4 p.m. Sunday’s series finale gets going at 1 p.m.
