Georgia Basketball gets commitment of Syracuse transfer Frank Anselem
Georgia added the commitment of Syracuse transfer Frank Anselem on Saturday out of the transfer portal. Anselem visited Athens earlier in the month of April and chooses the Bulldogs over Georgetown, visiting the Hoyas this past weekend, as well as LSU, SMU and Kennesaw State.
The 6-foot-10, 215-pound center played his first two seasons collegiately for the Orange, serving as the primary backup center for Jim Boeheim’s squad. He averaged 14.2 minutes per game in 29 appearances last season, totaling 2.6 points and 3.8 rebounds. He shot 62.5% from the field, but only averaged less than two shots per game.
One of Anselem’s best career outings came late in the season for Syracuse when he played 31 minutes against Florida State in the ACC Tournament. He totaled 15 rebounds and nearly reached double-double status with nine points. It was one of three games that he had 10 or more rebounds in 2021-22, pulling down 15 boards in his first career start against Virginia Tech and 10 against Georgia Tech in another game that he started.
Out of high school, Anselem was ranked the No. 160 player overall, No. 21 center and No. 18 player in the state of California according to the On3 Consensus. Anselem is originally from Lagos, Nigeria but spent time in high school in the Peach State at Westlake and Lincoln Academy before finishing out his prep career at Prolific Prep in California. He was a top-100 prospect in the Class of 2021 before reclassifying to 2020.

Anselem is the fifth transfer into Georgia this offseason under new head coach Mike White. He joins Longwood point guard Justin Hill, Bradley guard Terry Roberts, Alabama forward Jusaun Holt and Matthew Alexander-Moncrieffe from Oklahoma State.
Georgia lost nine players to the portal this offseason and had leading scorer Kario Oquendo enter his name before withdrawing it. Oquendo will return alongside Jailyn Ingram, Jabri Abdur-Rahim and Braelen Bridges.
