Mike White and the Georgia basketball team finally get some good news as Georgia 2021-2022 leading scorer Kario Oquendo has pulled his name out of the transfer portal and is expected to come back to the Bulldogs.

ProInsight director of scouting Andrew Slater was the first to report the news via Twitter on Wednesday evening.

Oquendo led the Bulldogs last year in points, while also finishing second in steals, third in rebounds, and fourth in field goal percentage.

The 6’4, 210-pound shooting guard from Titusville, Florida will return to Athens expecting to lead the team again, having started in 31 contests during the 2021-22 season.

Georgia basketball transfers the story thus far

Noah Baumann’s transfer last Monday marked the tenth Bulldog this offseason to transfer away from the program. Since then, Jailyn Ingram and Oquendo, two important pieces of Georgia’s success early with last year’s team, have announced that they will both return to the roster for the Bulldogs’ 2022-2023 season. Although Ingram was a sixth-year senior last year, he tore his ACL nine games into the season and will use a medical redshirt in order to play one more year of college basketball.

In total, Georgia now has four total players that are currently set to play for the Dawgs next year.

Jabri Abdur-Rahim, the highly touted transfer from the University of Virginia, will also return to the Bulldogs next year as a junior, providing a much-needed source and length and athleticism on defense. In additions to the roster, Longwood transfer Justin Hill will also play for the Bulldogs next year after averaging 14.2 points per game playing in the Big South Conference

Braelen Bridges, a super-senior who did not choose to go through Senior Day ceremonies, has not announced his plans currently, but it is believed that a return to Georgia is very possible.
