Georgia Basketball saw its losing streak extended another game Wednesday night at Mississippi State 75-62 as the Bulldogs couldn’t come away on top in an ugly one. UGA played from behind the majority of the contest, and for every punch the visiting Bulldogs threw, the home team had a counter.

Noah Thomasson scored 20 points with a career-high six made shots from 3-point range. He made 6-of-11 attempts from deep, also knocking down his only shot from inside the arc.

Thomasson was joined in double-figured by freshman Blue Cain who had 10. Cain also made a pair of 3-pointers, as did Jabri Abdur-Rahim who finished with eight.

Meanwhile, Mississippi State had four of their Bulldogs reach double digits led by Tolu Smith (19). Josh Hubbard (14), Shakeel Moore 911) and Keeshawn Murphy (10) joined Smith, who had a double-double with 12 rebounds as well.

It’s a fourth straight loss for Georgia, marking the longest losing streak of the season. That was already the case entering Wednesday night as the only previous losing streak was snapped after two games on the wrong end.

The first half saw Georgia with its lowest scoring total in SEC play as the Bulldogs put up just 28 points. Noah Thomasson had 12 of those as he hit four 3-pointers, the only UGA player to score more than five points in the first frame.

In the midst of the offensive struggles, Mississippi State jumped out to as large as a 14-point lead. Thomasson made back-to-back 3-pointers however to cut into the deficit and helped UGA go into the locker room down just eight, trailing 36-28.

After Mississippi State scored the first bucket of the second half almost two minutes in, Georgia went on a 6-0 run to get the deficit down to four. MSU responded with a run of its own and got its lead back out to double digits, but UGA wasn’t done. This time, a 10-0 run that included a pair of 3-pointers had the Dawgs within a single score. Georgia couldn’t keep it up long enough though to take the lead as Mississippi State rattled off 3-pointers on back-to-back possessions on its way to an 11-point lead with 4:30 to go.

Georgia leaves Starkville still in search of its first win at The Hump since 2016, and the Bulldogs head to another place that they haven’t faired all too well at. UGA hasn’t beaten Arkansas, it’s next opponent, on the road since 2011, however, the Bulldogs did manage to take down the Razorbacks in their earlier meeting this season 76-66 in Athens.

Tip time for Saturday in Fayetteville is set for 6:00 p.m. ET on the SEC Network.
