Georgia bracketology outlook: Selection Sunday projections

Selection Sunday is here and Georgia will be in the field of 68. It’s the first time since 2015 that the Bulldogs have made the NCAA Tournament. With four wins against Quad 1 teams and one of the toughest schedules in the country, Georgia is holding steady with a NET Ranking of 33. That’s a tool that the NCAA Tournament selection committee uses.
According to the bracketology experts out there, UGA fans should be ready for a No. 9 seed. In DawgsHQ’s latest bracket-projection roundup, there was a 10-seed mixed in. Today, it’s all nines if we stay consistent with where we are looking.
Jerry Palm of CBSSports had Georgia as a No. 10 seed a couple of days ago but he has moved the Bulldogs up a spot. UGA is No. 9 in the midwest region according to Palm. That would mean a trip to Wichita and Palm has the Bulldogs taking on Illinois. Houston is the No. 1 seed in that region.
Joe Lunardi of ESPN has Georgia as the same seed in the same region but with a different first-round opponent. He projects a matchup with Memphis in that regional. That would also be for a chance to play No. 1-seed Houston in round two. Houston is also the top seed in that region.

James Fletcher of On3Sports also has Georgia in the midwest region. He, too, has UGA as the ninth seed where it would take on Memphis. Fletcher’s projection, however, has Duke as the top seed in the region.
USAToday also has Georgia as the No. 9 seed in the same region as Duke, but it’s in the Blue Devils backyard — Raleigh. The first-round matchup has the Bulldogs taking on Memphis.
There are still five more automatic bids available for the NCAA Tournament with that many conference tournaments taking place today. The selection show is set for 6 p.m. ET on CBS.
